
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu attended the Launch Ceremony of the 5th Generation (5G) Mobile Communication Infrastructure Development Projects at the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK). At the ceremony, a project monitoring cooperation protocol was signed with the Center for Transportation, Maritime and Communication Research (UDHAM), Information Technologies and Communication Authority (BTK), Communication Technologies Cluster (HTK) and GSM operators.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Uraloğlu said, "Turkey's success in the digital economy will attract attention not only within the country but also in the global arena and position Turkey as a digital leader." Uraloğlu said, "We started the Turkey Century with the vision of "A Turkey with a strong industry and national technology" and the mission of creating a "high-technology-based, competitive, sustainable, local and national industrial structure." WE WILL BRING BROADBAND INTERNET SERVICE TO EVERY HOME
“The number of mobile subscribers, which was 2002 million in 23, reached approximately 91,36 million. We see that the number of broadband subscribers, which was almost zero in 2002, has reached 93,06 million today. In the coming period, we will bring broadband internet service to every home. We aim to increase the number of broadband subscribers to 2028 million and mobile subscribers to 111,7 million in 101,8. Our fiber infrastructure length has exceeded 536 thousand kilometers. Thanks to our Çamlıca Tower, which can broadcast 100 FM radios simultaneously from a communication tower for the first time in the world; We reduced the electromagnetic field value measured in the region from 39 Volts/meter to 6 Volts/meter from 2,5 Volts/meter, which is the acceptable threshold value for the European Union. This resulted in an approximately 15-fold improvement.”
THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE USING THE E-GOVERNMENT GATEWAY APPROACHED 64 MILLION
Minister Uraloğlu stated that the number of people using the e-Government Gateway, which was launched in 2008 under the coordination of the Ministry and continues to be operated by TÜRKSAT, has approached 64 million and today 1001 thousand 7 services of 410 institutions are offered to citizens electronically.
WE DEVELOP ALL PRODUCTS NEEDED IN 5G INFRASTRUCTURE WITH DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL FACILITIES
Minister Uraloğlu stated that studies on both existing 4.5G systems and 5G and beyond technologies are continuing. Drawing attention to the importance of 5G in his speech, Minister Uraloğlu said, “It is obvious that 5G networks, which will break new ground in the world of technology, will create trillions of dollars in economic value and millions of job opportunities. "We are trying to develop all the products needed in the 5G infrastructure, from the antenna to the core network, with local and national resources." said.
WITH THE 'END-TO-END DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL 5G COMMUNICATION NETWORK PROJECT', DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN INFRASTRUCTURE WILL BE ELIMINATED
Minister Uraloğlu said, “We established the Communication Technologies Cluster (HTK) in 2017 within OSTİM, under the coordination of our Ministry and BTK, for the development of a domestic and national production ecosystem in the electronic communications sector. "End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Communication Network Project" (UUYM5G Project) was developed by HTK member companies in order to meet the hardware and software needs on the road to 5G with local and national means. With our project; "We want to eliminate our foreign dependency in electronic communication infrastructure," he said.
5G NETWORK IS BEING TESTED IN 25 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS
Stating that they have established infrastructure at Istanbul Airport for citizens whose devices are compatible with 5G and for international passengers to experience 5G, Minister Uraloğlu said, “As part of the preparation works for 5G, we provide trial permits to our mobile network operators and domestic manufacturers, ensuring that they are technologically prepared for 5G.” . "The 25G network is being tested in 5 different locations, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Edirne and Kocaeli, within the framework of the permissions given," he said.
OUR INTERNET SPEED IS LITERALLY FLYING WITH 5G
Minister Eroğlu, who also shared the information that 5 mobile operators were allowed by BTK to provide 3G service at Istanbul airport, shared the reports he received from the operators as follows:
“Subscribers' average data download speeds are 1 gigabit (cigabit) per second and sending speeds are 90 megabits per second. So our internet speed is literally flying. Our primary goal is to offer our country the speed to compete with the world with 5G and to ensure the transition by using a high percentage of domestic and national products. “Our country is taking firm steps towards becoming one of the leading economies of the future with the steps it has taken in digitalization.”
WE HAVE COMPLETED ALL PROCESSES REGARDING OUR CALL FOR R&D SUPPORT WITH 14 COMPANIES
Minister Uraloğlu stated that they determined 2022G support call titles in 5 with the contributions of BTK, HGM mobile operators and companies working on 5G. Minister Uraloğlu said, “As a result of our work, '5. We made a call for 2023G under the name 'Call Program to Support the Development Projects of the Next Generation (5G) Mobile Communication Infrastructure'. He pointed out that with this call, they aim to encourage domestic and national production, reduce external dependence on high-tech products, and support R&D activities in the field of communication with projects that will receive R&D support.
Minister Uraloğlu said, “With the call program, we planned to provide a total of 200 million TL of support. We have set the upper limit as 20 million TL for each company that applies for more than one title in different call subheadings. "We have completed all processes regarding our call for R&D support with 14 companies and started our projects on October 01, 2023," he said.
A PROJECT MONITORING COOPERATION PROTOCOL WAS SIGNED WITH UDHAM, BTK, HGM AND GSM OPERATORS
Minister Uraloğlu stated that they cooperated with BTK, HGM and mobile operators Vodafone, Turkcell and Türk Telekom in project monitoring and evaluation in this process, which brought together all relevant stakeholders in domestic and national product supply, and said: "UDHAM, BTK, UDHAM, BTK, We will hold the project monitoring cooperation protocol signing ceremony with HGM and GSM operators.
