Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Ersoy attended the "3rd Congress" organized by the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) at the Atatürk Cultural Center. He attended the "Media Meetings" meeting.
Minister Ersoy, who came together with media representatives and held consultations, stated in his speech at the opening that he always attaches importance to meeting with sector representatives and said, “The opinions of our stakeholders constitute the most basic reference for the decisions we make. As a result, special fields such as culture, art and media can exist through the productions of actors. In this respect, I would like to state that, as people in the sector, I attach great importance to your evaluations.” said.
Minister Ersoy pointed out that the competition between the great powers of the world is through media and cultural tools and said:
“We observe that great powers use media and cultural tools most effectively in economic competition, political areas, tourism and international relations. Today, at this point we can say this very clearly; The world's most influential countries and even companies are in a race to manage and direct the media power as they wish in accordance with their own interests. Unfortunately, those who were most negatively affected by these manipulations were the societies that thought the information they received from the media was reliable. This situation is the subject of serious discussions and scientific research at the most respected universities in the world.
In addition, the rapid dissemination of discourses developed in traditional media through new media tools can have an effect that deepens the problem. As you will appreciate, in the face of such a situation, we cannot stand by and watch international manipulations, political and economic manipulations, the conditioning of societies as they wish, and the violation of individuals' freedoms. In the face of this bombardment, our primary duty should be to protect and strengthen our country, our people and our media. “We have to take precautions to strengthen our social and individual immune system against media manipulations.”
