12 people died and many were injured when two trains collided near Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.
The accident occurred in the Kishoreganj district outside the capital Dhaka. A freight train and a passenger train collided for an unknown reason.
Mosharraf Hossain, one of the fire officials, announced that according to initial findings, 12 people died and many people were injured in the accident.
Stating that the teams that reached the region started rescue efforts, Hossain noted that the loss of life may increase.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The accident was one of the deadliest train accidents in Bangladesh in recent years.
In 2021, 10 people died as a result of the collision of two trains in the Sylhet region in the northeastern part of the country.
In 2019, 60 people died when a freight train crashed into a passenger train at a train station near the capital Dhaka.
