Turkish Cargo, the air cargo brand of Turkish Airlines, shared another story within the scope of the "Mission Rescue" project. The carrier safely delivered endangered koala Yani from Hong Kong to the UK.
Yani, who was born in Australia and then taken to Hong Kong, was left alone after the other koalas she lived with in the park died. Since it was not possible for Yani, who was deprived of the opportunity to socialize and continue his generation, to return to his homeland due to South Australia's biosecurity rules, it was decided that the most suitable place for him to survive would be Longleat Safari Park in the United Kingdom.
After obtaining all the necessary permissions for the transfer of Koala Yani, a flight was planned from Hong Kong to England, which required great precision and care. Longleat park officials contacted Turkish Cargo and asked for help with this journey. Acting with the mission of respecting livestock and nature in all its transportation activities, Turkish Cargo was involved in the process as a sponsor carrier. The Carrier, which planned every detail of its operation with great care, successfully carried out Yani's transfer via Istanbul, in accordance with IATA LAR (Live Animal Transportation Regulations). Yani, who was kept in quarantine for a while after being brought to England, was reunited with her new friends after all the health checks.
Turkish Cargo, which has the IATA CEIV Live Animals certificate, houses the live animals entrusted to it at the SMARTIST Live Animal Terminal in accordance with industry standards.
