Foreign tourists started to turn to buses for intercity journeys. According to the report investigating the travel habits of foreign tourists in Turkey, the bus routes most frequently used by citizens of different countries were also revealed.
Turkey, with its historical and touristic richness, continues to be an attractive option for foreign tourists. According to data published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 2023 million foreign tourists visited Turkey in the first 8 months of 36,8. This figure corresponds to a 2022 percent increase compared to the same period in 14.
Bus services, which offer transportation opportunities to every corner of Turkey for local and foreign tourists, stand out as a comfortable and budget-friendly alternative.
Cappadocia has become the stopping point for those going to Antalya
Obilet.com, an online travel ticket, car rental and hotel reservation platform, researched the travel habits of foreign tourists in Turkey.
According to the data in question, among the foreign tourists coming to Turkey, Russians rank first among the citizens of the country who buy the most bus tickets. They are followed by citizens of Germany, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Bulgaria.
For now, tourists from England and France mostly visit a single city and return to their countries, instead of visiting different cities in Turkey. Arab tourists coming to our country from the Gulf regions continue to prefer planes and private transfers for their travels within Turkey.
When examined on a destination basis, the cities where the most bus tickets are purchased by foreigners in Turkey are Istanbul, Antalya, Muğla, Izmir, Nevşehir, Mersin, Denizli and Ankara. Especially the Cappadocia (Nevşehir) region has become an important additional stop for tourists who prefer to spend their holidays in Antalya. Buses are widely preferred for travels between Antalya and Cappadocia.

- Iraq: Yalova-Istanbul, Ankara-Istanbul, Ankara-Çankırı
- Bulgaria: Edirne-Istanbul, Edirne-Bulgaria, Bursa-Izmir.
