'Ordu Stuffed Pan', a flavor sought after by local and foreign tourists in Ordu, made from anchovies grown abundantly in the Black Sea, received a geographical indication with the initiatives of the Metropolitan Municipality. With the registration of 'Ordu Stuffed Pan', the number of products with geographical indication in the province increased to 16.
Ordu Metropolitan Municipality's efforts to increase the brand value and recognition of city-specific products continue. The application made by the Metropolitan Municipality, which has received geographical indications for many products so far, for 'Ordu İçli Pan' was also accepted.
'Ordu İçli Tava' was published in the Official Geographical Indication and Traditional Product Name Bulletin of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office dated 15 August 2023 and numbered 155, with the initiatives of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock Services of the Metropolitan Municipality, and was registered as a product with a origin sign.
THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED PRODUCTS INCREASED TO 16
After Ordu İçli Tava received a geographical indication, the number of products with geographical indication registration in the province increased to 16. Before Kabataş Halva, Ordu Thursday Walnut Halva, Ordu Yayla Beet (Dürme) Pickle, Akkuş Sugar Bean, Gürgentepe Shepherd's Bean, Ordu Kiwi, Ordu Toast, Yalıköy Meatball, Ordu Taflan Pickle, Ordu Sakarca Mıhması, Ordu Melocan Roast, Ordu Galdirik Roast and Mesudiye Dried Bread/Mesudiye Goliti, Ordu Pita/Ordu Butter, Ordu Hazelnut Burma Dessert were registered.
HOW IS IT PREPARED?
Ordu Stuffed Pan is a local dish specific to Ordu province, which is made by placing cleaned and de-bone-separated anchovies in a way to cover the surface of the pan, placing the prepared pilaf on top, covering them with anchovies again and cooking them. Rice, onion, raisins or currants, peanuts, parsley, black pepper, chili peppers and salt are used in making stuffed pilaf. Large-sized anchovies (at least 9 cm) caught on the coast of Ordu province are used in making stuffed pans.
