The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has provided more than 2023 million TL in grant support since the beginning of 11 for local projects in order to develop the infrastructure of livestock enterprises and increase their capacity and efficiency.

The General Directorate of Livestock (HAYGEM) affiliated with the Ministry supports the projects of family businesses in order to develop the infrastructure of livestock enterprises, increase their capacity and efficiency, obtain quality products by producing under more hygienic conditions, and obtain herds with better genetic resources.

Projects coming through the provincial agriculture and forestry directorates are evaluated by HAYGEM. In this context, 2023 local projects from Ordu, Şırnak, Diyarbakır, Gümüşhane, Manisa, Ardahan, Denizli, Mardin, Kütahya, Trabzon and Hakkâri provinces have been evaluated so far for 13 and a total of 11 million 137 thousand 382 TL grant support has been found appropriate.

PROJECTS

While evaluations of new demands from the provinces continue, the projects currently deemed suitable for 2023 are as follows:

1-“Akkuş's Milk Goes to the Market Project” / Ordu

The project aims to ensure sustainable production and marketing by preparing the infrastructure for milk producers. In this context, it is planned to collect the milk of approximately 18 dairy cattle enterprises in 2 neighborhoods without disrupting the cold chain. Thus, quality analyzes will be carried out and quality milk will be delivered to processing facilities.

Within the scope of the project, machinery, tools and equipment will be provided to ensure the cold chain in milk and measure the quality of milk.

2- "Beekeeping Development Project" / Şırnak-Uludere

With the project, it is planned to provide training to producers in the central villages and towns of Uludere district on subjects that cover beekeeping activities holistically, in terms of general bee farming, alternative bee products cultivation and marketing of these products.

In this context, a total of 75 empty beehives with pollen traps will be provided to 500 beekeepers who live in Uludere town and villages and carry out limited beekeeping activities. Thus, it is aimed to encourage bee breeding to make honey and alternative bee products (propolis, pollen royal jelly).

3- “If There Are Bees, There is Life Project” / Diyarbakır

Women and young farmers engaged in beekeeping in the central neighborhoods and villages of Dicle district will be provided with modern hives, honey extraction machines and various beekeeping equipment in order to develop the capacities of 20 breeders.

4- ”Pollen Trap Hive Support Project for Beekeepers” / Gümüşhane

The aim is to increase the income levels of beekeeping producers by expanding the product pattern and producing pollen in addition to honey production. With the project, a total of 2 thousand pollen trap hive mats will be given to beekeepers.

5- "Sheep Automatic Feeder Project" / Manisa

With the automatic feeders for small cattle to be distributed within the scope of the project, it is aimed to prevent feed waste, save time and labor, and increase meat and milk yields by increasing the feed utilization of lambs and kids. In addition, it is envisaged to increase the profit rates of enterprises by reducing input costs. In this context, automatic sheep feeders will be provided to 240 sheep breeders in the province.

6- "Project to Bring Added Value to Raw Milk by the Public" / Ardahan

With the project, 200 female breeders will be trained on milking hygiene and traditional butter and cheese production. In addition, 100 automatic cream machines and automatic churning machines will be given to 100 family businesses.

7- "Project for the Production of Raw Milk in Suitable Conditions for Healthy Generations" / Denizli

The project aims to ensure sustainable production and marketing by preparing the infrastructure for milk producers. In this context, it is planned to collect the milk of the dairy cattle enterprise without disrupting the cold chain. Thus, quality analyzes will be carried out and quality milk will be delivered to processing facilities. 8- "Ivesi is in the Hands of the People, Reclamation Project is in Place" / Mardin

In order to increase the genetic capacity of small ruminants, breeding rams will be procured from TİGEM and used for breeding purposes.

9- "Project for the Protection and Development of Geographically Indicated Ardahan Flower Honey and Caucasian Bee" / Ardahan

It is aimed to improve the human capital, professional knowledge and skills, qualifications and productivity of beekeepers. Thus, it is envisaged to ensure the continuity of existing beekeeping enterprises and to contribute to young people being able to establish their own businesses and/or become employed.

For this purpose, 2 packages of medicine will be distributed to beekeepers to combat the varroa pest, which causes loss of productivity in beekeeping.

10- “Project for Increasing Productivity in Sheep and Goats” / Kütahya

The project aims to increase the productivity of the herds by raising highly qualified young male lambs and kids and increasing their numbers.

11- ”Agricultural Development Cooperative Milk Processing Facility Project” / Trabzon

The aim is to improve the infrastructure and increase the capacity of dairy cooperatives.

12- “Beekeeping Development Project” / Hakkari

It is aimed to increase the business capacity of the growers by distributing a total of 40 empty hives to 200 people engaged in beekeeping.

13- ”On-Site Conservation of Bee Gene Resources Project in Manisa” / Manisa

The aim of the queen bee production hive to be distributed to breeders is for beekeepers to increase the profitability of their businesses by producing the queen bees they need. In this way, it is envisaged to protect local bee ecotypes adapted to the region and ecosystem and to prevent wrong breed selection and genetic modification of bee races.

YUMAKLI: “WE ATTACH IMPORTANCE TO LOCAL LIVESTOCK INVESTMENTS AND AIM TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN FAMILY BUSINESS”

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı stated that supporting family business in rural areas and increasing animal production is one of the main strategies.

In this context, Yumaklı underlined that they support growers in order to obtain more and higher quality products, to ensure that the products are preserved, delivered to the market and sold at their value, and reminded that they make positive discrimination against young people and women, especially in family business.

Minister Yumaklı stated that they support local animal investments in the provinces and underlined that such projects contribute greatly to the development of rural areas and ensuring continuity in production.
