From the desert to the metropolises: Audi is not only using the future-oriented drive technology of the RS Q e-tron at the Dakar Rally, but is also showcasing it specifically in different European cities. Following the highly acclaimed Hamburg tour a year ago, the program also includes the home capitals of the three Audi factory drivers. Carlos Sainz/Lucas Cruz will drive in Madrid, Stéphane Peterhansel/Edouard Boulanger on the roads of Paris and Mattias Ekström/Emil Bergkvist will drive the innovative low-emission prototype in Stockholm. The promotional video of the event was also published at #DakarCityTour 2023.
Audi continues to display the RS Q e-tron vehicle it used in the Dakar Rally in cities. This special exhibition method, which was carried out in Hamburg last year, is now carried to the capitals of the home countries of the team's pilots.
Madrid, Paris, Stockholm: Three Audi teams will drive the electric prototype through the capitals' most beautiful landmarks. Royal palaces in Spain and Sweden or the Eiffel Tower and Sacré-Cœur in Paris are just some of the many stops on the three routes. At selected locations, the RS Q e-tron will showcase the power of its 263 kW (358 hp) electric powertrain during the drift show.
Stating that they will sign with a three-city tour, Audi Motorsport boss Rolf Michl said: “Of course, our car will not perform in front of the audience on the tracks, as in desert rallies. Instead, we will showcase the innovative technology in front of many people in three major European cities. “We will convey an important message and inspire people with our fascinating prototype.” said.
Audi has been one of the pioneers of the transition to electric since 2012. The brand developed the RS Q e-tron with electric and energy converter to succeed in desert motorsport with a low-emission model. The energy converter consists of an internal combustion engine and a generator. Starting this season, Audi uses sustainable fuel that reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 60 percent. Team Audi Sport took overall victory at last year's Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. The RS Q e-tron has also achieved six stage victories in the two editions of the Dakar Rally so far and has reached the podium a total of 28 times in the daily evaluations.
Three film and photo productions will be released consecutively. On Wednesday, September 20, the Madrid journey can be watched with photos and films on Audi Sport social media channels and audimedia.tv. The Paris show will be held on September 27th and the last one in Stockholm on October 4th.
