Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Memduh Büyükkılıç published a message on the occasion of September 27 World Tourism Day. In his message, Mayor Büyükkılıç stated that his efforts will continue to make Kayseri the center of tourism with projects and investments that will attract the attention of the world.

Emphasizing that Kayseri is a tourism paradise city with its nature, ancient historical elements, geographical values and gastronomy, which exhibits both Anatolian culture and its unique culture, Büyükkılıç said, “It means a great deal to celebrate World Tourism Day from such a city, which is the center of tourism. Almost all types of tourism can be found in Kayseri, which is an open-air museum bursting with history from every corner. Our Erciyes, Kapuzbaşı Waterfalls, Koramaz Valley, Aladağlar-Hacer Forests, Soğanlı Valley, Sultan Marshes, on the other hand, our historical values, Kültepe Kaniş-Karum, Kayseri Castle, madrasahs and museums, Cumhuriyet Square, Grand Bazaar, "Our mosques are countless, including our various gastronomy-cultural values originating from our historical and natural beauties, inexhaustible with visiting, endless with benefiting from them," he said.
Stating in his message that they, as local governments, are trying to do more than their responsibilities, Mayor Büyükkılıç said:
“As local governments, we work as much as we can to further develop and diversify tourism, which is a smokeless industry, in a city with high potential like Kayseri, and we produce and implement new projects. Thank God, we have made progress in terms of gastronomy tourism today. Kayseri cuisine is frequently the subject of documentaries and programs of local and foreign media organizations. On the other hand, the Koramaz Valley project, also designed by our municipality, is eligible to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. In addition, we have museums on almost every subject, which are under construction by our municipality. Our website named kayseri.com.tr, which we created to promote our Kayseri. The branch of tourism that we attach most importance to in Kayseri is health tourism. Again, when there is an infrastructure for health tourism in our city, which has a high potential for health tourism, we took the opportunity to establish International Health Tourism Inc. In other words, we signed a health tourism cooperation protocol with USHAŞ. We established a Health Tourism website. “With the approval of our President, we opened another Faculty of Medicine in our City Hospital affiliated with the University of Health Sciences.”
MOSAIC STRUCTURE THAT WILL MAKE IT TALKED ABOUT IN THE WORLD
Reminding that the largest mosaic structure in Central Anatolia was found in the İncesu Örenşehir region, Büyükkılıç emphasized that the mosaics from the Roman and Early Byzantine Periods during the excavations will make a name for themselves in the world.
ERCIYES WILL BE OPENED TO THERMAL TOURISM WITH HOT WATER
Mayor Büyükkılıç noted that Erciyes, which is the locomotive of Kayseri tourism, is leading the way with the ski center established by the municipality and the High Altitude Camping Center in the new process, and is moving towards providing service 12 months a year with events such as festivals and races. Büyükkılıç stated that they made an effort to make Erciyes, the pearl of Turkey, a livable and usable center for 12 months and said, “We achieved our dreams. We found our thermal water on Mount Erciyes. "Work continues in the Erciyes geothermal drilling field, which is carried out in order to make Erciyes Mountain known for thermal tourism and to utilize this potential," he said.
PROJECTS THAT WILL INTRODUCE KÜLTEPE TO THE WORLD
Mayor Büyükkılıç said that among the projects that will revive the Kültepe Kaniş-Karum region of the Metropolitan Municipality, they will introduce Kültepe to the world with the Kültepe Museum, which will be the largest rock-carved museum in the world, the Assyrian Merchants Street, consisting of 14 houses, and the Kültepe Visitor Center.
FOSSIL STUDIES THAT WILL ATTRACT THE WORLD'S INTEREST
Büyükkılıç said that the excavations, which started in September 2018 in the old Taşhan, Çevril, Emmiler and Hırka regions around the Yamula Dam in Kocasinan district and were carried out under the Kayseri Museum Presidency and under the sponsorship of Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality, with the permission of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, continued, adding that the excavations are unique in the world. He explained that the Paleontology Museum and Millet Coffeehouse project, where 7.5 million-year-old fossils will be exhibited, are also continuing.
