MNG Kargo continues to improve its business processes in line with its sustainability policy. Based on this understanding, within the scope of the "Converting Waste Tires into Sustainable Materials with Environmentally Friendly Methods Project" implemented with the green technology company Laska, it transforms waste in a way that respects nature through sustainable and innovative solutions, unlike traditional methods, thanks to the advanced technology developed by Laska.
Celebrating its twentieth anniversary, MNG Kargo, one of Turkey's leading companies, contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with the sustainability efforts it carries out within the framework of its vision for the future. Adopting the concept of sustainability, the company ensures that end-of-life vehicle tires are recycled with environmentally friendly methods, within the scope of the collaboration it started with Laska a year ago.
MNG Kargo supports the prevention of pollution caused by waste tires by delivering vehicle tires that have completed their useful life to Laska within the scope of the waste tire recycling project. MNG Kargo, which separated a total of 18.240 kilograms of vehicle tires for recycling in the first year of the project, contributes to the transformation of used tires into two separate raw materials (renewable fuel and carbon black) that are clean and sustainable as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Within the scope of the project, 13 tons of crude oil consumption was prevented
Thanks to the climate technology developed by Laska in the innovative project, MNG Kargo prevented a total of 16 tons of carbon emissions and the same amount of fossil fuel consumption as 8 tons of renewable fuel, and also prevented the consumption of approximately 13 tons of crude oil resulting from carbon black production.
“We act by focusing on our social responsibilities”
Making evaluations about the Laska cooperation, MNG Cargo Deputy General Manager Responsible for Commercial Activities Veysi Armağan Kesen said, “As MNG Cargo, we carry out activities with the awareness of our social responsibilities. One of the important steps we took in this context was the project we implemented with Laska, of which we completed its first year. We support the prevention of pollution caused by waste tires by delivering old vehicle tires to Laska during transportation processes. In this way, while reducing our carbon footprint, we contribute to saving waste tires from being an environmental problem and an economic loss by using the circular economy approach. In the first year of the project, we separated a total of 18.240 kilograms of end-of-life vehicle tires for recycling, and after the recycling process, we contributed to the transformation of used tires into two separate clean and sustainable raw materials (renewable fuel and carbon black). We believe that the project will bring successful results in the future.” said.
Making a statement about the activities of their enterprise, Laska founder and CEO Onur Güdü stated that, as Laska, they carry out all their production activities with a social entrepreneurship approach that centers on the balance between economy and ecology, and said: "We can only overcome the world's dirty and costly production/consumption habits with a holistic perspective on production processes." It is possible to replace it with projects that are closer and focus on the idea of creating an impact. Today's corporate companies are interested in projects that are beneficial to society and the environment by focusing on profit optimization rather than profit maximization. At this point, it is very important for MNG Cargo to integrate the responsibility of walking this path simultaneously with us into its business model for a more sustainable world.” said.
Onur Güdü thanked MNG Kargo, which took a pioneering step in its sector for a radical change in waste tire management and regularly delivers its waste to Laska, for its contribution to sustainability activities, its efforts to recycle waste tires with environmentally friendly methods within the scope of combating climate change, and its social impact. He stated that they thanked him for his support to the work of the initiative.
