Istanbul Governorship warned that Syrian foreigners with temporary protection status in Istanbul should return to the provinces where they are registered by September 24.

The statement made by the Governorship is as follows: "It was stated that Syrian foreigners under temporary protection, who are currently in Istanbul despite being registered outside the province of Istanbul, should return to the provinces where they are registered by September 24, 2023.

It was also stated that if the Syrian foreigners in question apply to the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management to return to the provinces where they are registered until September 24, 2023, they will be given a road permit.

This period will not be extended

In the inspections to be carried out by our Governorship as of September 24, 2023; Foreigners of Syrian nationality under Temporary Protection who are found to have not left our city at the end of the period granted to them, even though they do not have the legal right to stay in Istanbul;

In order for them to be taken to Temporary Accommodation Centers and stay in the provinces where they are registered, administrative obligations will be imposed and the prescribed sanctions will be applied within the scope of the Foreigners and International Protection Law No. 6458 and the Temporary Protection Regulation.

Foreigners of Syrian nationality under temporary protection, who come from the provinces affected by the earthquake that occurred on February 6, 2023 and who were previously issued a road permit, will be allowed to stay in Istanbul until further notice.”
