Muhittin Böcek: “We brought firsts to life in our Golden Orange”

Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin BöcekExpressing his happiness to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic and the 60th anniversary of the festival together, he said, “This year is a very special year for all of us. Because while we celebrate the 100th anniversary of our Republic, we also celebrate the 60th anniversary of our Golden Orange. We are witnessing very honorable times together for our country, our city and Turkish cinema. Our Golden Orange, the first and longest-running festival of our country and the pride of our Antalya, was badly injured and destroyed before us. His essence and nature were manipulated. For this reason, as soon as we took office, we acted with the responsibility of giving our Festival the value it deserved and returned our Golden Orange to its essence in its 56th year. The faded light of our Festival, which is more meaningful with Turkish cinema and its components, has shined again. But we couldn't and shouldn't be satisfied with this much. Our Golden Orange, reunited with its own values, should be renewed every year and become stronger in the international arena. In the light of these thoughts; "We have implemented firsts in our Golden Orange in line with the decisions we took with common sense together with our artists, industry representatives, and cinema workers," he said.

Mayor Böcek continued his words as follows: “In order to draw attention to women's efforts in the cinema industry, we started to reward our female filmmakers in memory of Cahide Sonku, who was the first star female actress of our cinema and who broke many grounds behind the camera. We launched the Golden Orange Cinema School in order to support and inspire the filmmakers of the future. Every year, we hosted hundreds of students studying at universities in different cities of our country at our festival. We are happy to support our young people on their path to their dreams with our cinema school, which we established with the slogan 'Youth will produce, Antalya will rise together with young people'. Another innovation we brought to our Golden Orange was the Literary Adaptation Feature Screenplay Competition. Like this; We encourage the adaptation of qualified works of our literature into cinema, and we also provide material and moral support to producers and artists to produce new works. "With the happiness of increasing the number of our festivals from 2 to 7 and making our city truly a city of festivals, on the path we set out to say 'Antalya will also be the capital of culture and arts', I wish our Golden Orange many more years to come, and I congratulate all the films that have already qualified for the competition."

Poster of the 60th Year is Ready!

Mayor of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Muhittin Böcek, announced the festival's highly anticipated poster with the following words: "I am happy to share with you our 60th anniversary poster prepared by visual designer Galip Aksular, based on the idea that 'Cinema is an endless journey' and I wish our festival to exist forever."

As you know, since the movie Government Woman, the government has been addressed as a woman, the government as a president, and as a president so many times that this time my presidency has been registered, it has become official. Thank you very much. I too will experience the excitement of being with dear Antalya people, this was like a rehearsal. The Antalya Golden Orange Award ceremony is always very exciting for us players and the entire industry. It brings everyone together. While watching the trailer a while ago, the old days came to mind. It brings the industry together, brings people together, it is one of the events where you can best see the unifying side of art, watching something together, being with the audience, and it is our pride. How lucky that Antalya is Turkey's most important award ceremony and award is exclusive to this city. It has become the symbol of Antalya with all its visuals and statuettes. Also, I am proud to be the jury president in this special year, the 60th year, and I thank you very much for inviting me. It makes me very proud to be a part of an award ceremony that we love, for which I have received an award before, and to be the jury president, and the responsibility is great. I say a little something about my own awards and pass the floor. I have a reward that I think you don't know about. I received an award with my first film. My first movie that you know is Vizontele, but the movie you don't know is Reverse World. I was introduced to the movie Tersine Dünya with the Golden Orange award. Then my Golden Orange award came with the character of Siti Ana in the movie Vizontele. My two precious figurines stay at home. I am proud and honored to be the president of the jury that will award these statuettes this year. “Thank you again.”
