Two trams belonging to Samsun Light Rail System (SAMULAŞ) collided near the Piazza stop. Upon the notification, a large number of AFAD, firefighters and medical teams were sent to the accident site. According to initial reports, 1 people were injured, one of them seriously.

The medical teams who came to the accident site sent the injured to hospitals in the city by ambulances.

Samsun Governor Zülkif Dağlı and Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir made investigations at the accident site.

Dağlı stated that when the tram, which was moving towards Tekkeköy at around 09.40, malfunctioned, the other tram that was underway hit this vehicle from behind, saying, “Unfortunately, the situation of our countryman seems a bit heavy. We have 26 injured, most of them mild and outpatient. They were taken into custody. I hope our country will be saved. We had an unfortunate accident. It's an instant event. Demir, on the other hand, explained that there was a technical malfunction in the tram and the situation was examined, and said, "Friends will pull the tram to the repair department for detection and make the determination there." said.

Pointing out that the crash happened just as the tram descended from the overpass, Demir said, “As soon as he realizes it, the stopping distance is close, it's from the rear… It's not a huge impact, actually, it's a touch. Our country is seriously injured. According to the information I received, it does not appear to be life-threatening. Most of the passengers were treated as outpatients. There are 26 applications examined. Around 10 seem to be injured, but I think they will be discharged within 2 hours, except 2-3. Get well soon." he said.
