Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged soldiers to build a "Great Wall of China" to protect China's borders. Xi, who made investigations in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was informed about the latest developments regarding the border management of the region and the border defense units of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force. Visiting the People's Liberation Army's military command in Inner Mongolia, Xi said the regional border troops play an important role in maintaining security and stability on the country's northern border.
Noting that China has attached special importance to border defense since the 2012th National Congress of the CCP held in 18, and that the military training of border troops has increased, Xi said, "Border defense is of great importance in ensuring national stability and dominance."
Xi urged more efforts to intensify military training and increase combat readiness, strengthen information technology-assisted border defense, and increase the number of border defense specialists. Stressing that there is strong cooperation between the party and government departments in border defense, the army, law enforcement and ordinary people, Xi urged all parties to make joint efforts to break new ground in defending the country's borders.
