The Minimum Wage Determination Commission held its first meeting hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to discuss the interim increase to the minimum wage.
The meeting hosted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security was attended by the General Manager of Labour, Sadettin Akyıl, TÜRK-İŞ representing the workers' section, and the Turkish Employers' Unions Confederation (TİSK) representing the employers' section.
Minimum wage, to be effective as of January 2023; gross 10 thousand 8 lira, net 8 thousand 506 lira 80 kuruş.
Making a statement after the meeting, Türk-İş delegation representative Veli Solak said that Türk-İş Chairman Ergün Atalay could not attend the commission meeting because he attended the funeral of the workers who were martyred in the explosion at the MKE Rocket and Explosive Factory. Solak stated that they wanted the minimum wage meetings to end before the holiday and said, “Our demand is; Ending the 'Century of Türkiye' in a way befitting. We want the salaries of our brothers working with minimum wage to be updated according to the conditions of the day, according to the economic crisis, according to the house rents, according to the cost of living.”
Solak, when asked whether figures were discussed at the meeting, said, “Official documents were requested. We will make a statement in the coming days, in the coming hours.”
