Support Protocol for Women and Children Victims of Violence from ABB and Ankara Bar Association

A cooperation protocol was signed between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) and Ankara Bar Association in order to combat violence against women and children and to provide the necessary support to those in need.

A protocol was signed between Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş and Ankara Bar Association President Mustafa Köroğlu within the scope of efforts to make Ankara safe for women.

With the protocol signed for the second time since the protocol signed in 2019 expired, cooperation will be made within the scope of Ankara Bar Association Gelincik Project, which was developed to combat violence against women and children and provides the necessary support to those in need. In line with the project objectives, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Bar Association will act together to provide the necessary support to those in need.

Within the scope of the protocol; Coordination will be established between Women's Shelters, Women's Counseling Centers, Family Life Centers, Ladies' Clubs and Youth Centers in different districts and Ankara Bar Association. In case of need of women and children placed in Women's Shelters, Ankara Bar Association will be informed about these people through social workers. The Metropolitan Municipality will also contribute to the psychological, economic and social support of women and children who are victims of violence applying to the Gelincik Center.

Necessary information will be given to the headmen, and victims of violence will be directed to the Poppy Center. Meetings will be held in neighborhoods on women's and children's rights, domestic violence, gender equality, and legal remedies for victims.
