In the Konak Tunnel, which is under the control of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, necessary improvements were made in line with the fire drill carried out the previous week, and it was confirmed that the systems that will provide a fast and effective response to possible vehicle fires are working. In the exercise, in which 10 vehicles and 21 personnel participated, the first response process was completed without any problems. After the exercise, a situation assessment was made to accelerate the process even more.

Working to maintain safe and comfortable urban transportation, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality continues to improve its security measures. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation and Fire Department held fire, search and rescue and evacuation drills in the Konak Tunnel, where thousands of vehicles pass every day, the previous week. After the evaluation made after the exercise, the deficiencies identified were completed.

01.00 tow truck, 03.00 passenger cars, 1 double cabin pick-ups, 2 tunnel operation chief's personnel, 2 fire truck crews, 21 axle crew, 2 ambulance, 1 pick-up from the Konak Tünel operation chief, were participated in the exercise held between 1-1. -up joined. In the exercise, all processes from the moment the accident occurred to the notification, arrival at the scene, coordination of the teams, response to the accident, extinguishing the fire, transferring the possible injured to the hospital and reopening the tunnel to traffic were successfully completed.

First aid successful

As a result of the evaluations, according to the fire emergency scenario, the ventilation system, public announcement system, fire detection system, camera event detection system, lighting system, SOS emergency communication systems were activated and operated without any problems during the fire drill. In the evaluations made by the Fire Brigade Department after the fire drill, the points where the water fire extinguishing system in the tunnel should be developed for rapid intervention were determined and the deficiencies were corrected. Action has also been taken to develop systems that will further accelerate the process of responding to a possible fire.
