Stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer is making his feature debut in a new movie called The Machine. It is now in theaters and many people are looking forward to watching it. But will it finally be released on Netflix? Here's what we know.
The Machine is a comedy film directed by Peter Atencio from a screenplay co-written by Kevin Biegel and Scotty Landes. Additionally, it is based on the 2016 stand-up show of the same name, in which Kreischer recounts his real experience with Russian gangsters while in college.
Bert plays a fictional version of himself in the movie. After Bert and his estranged father are kidnapped by a murderous Russian mobster and brought back to Russia to atone for something they say he did 20 years ago, Bert and his father must work together to survive.
Besides Kresicher, the roster includes Mark Hamill, Jimmy Tatro, Iva Babić, Stephanie Kurtzuba, Jessica Gabor, Nikola Đuričko, Oleg Taktarov and others.
Will The Machine be on Netflix?
Unfortunately, The Machine is currently not available to watch on Netflix. However, it will likely eventually make its way to Netflix, due to the streaming giant's deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment. According to the deal, Netflix receives the first payment window rights to Sony movies after they are released in theaters. Because The Machine is a Sony movie, it's covered by the deal.
When will The Machine be on Netflix?
We don't know exactly when the comedy movie will land on Netflix, but we've seen Sony movies release on publisher anywhere between 120-168 days after they hit theaters. This means we could see The Machine in September 2023 at the earliest, or November 2023 at the latest. Don't worry. We will share the official Netflix release date once it is announced.
