Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer noted that the efforts to protect the intellectual and industrial property rights of new products and designs, and to raise awareness in schools about the original work of students and teachers in vocational and technical education institutions, which include inventions, have gained momentum.
Minister Mahmut Özer, in his assessment on the subject, said, “As a result of the cooperation with the sector through R&D studies and innovative approaches in vocational education, a major breakthrough has been achieved in the registration and commercialization of patents, utility models, trademarks, designs in our vocational high schools.” said.

Pointing out the importance of spreading the intellectual property culture related to patents, utility models, brands and designs in the development of countries, Özer said: The number of applications made by affiliated institutions reached 21 thousand 34. The number of our registrations, on the other hand, increased to 3 thousand 96, a great increase was achieved. In this context, 633 patents, 1.150 utility models, 17 designs and 940 trademark applications were filed. Among these applications, 1.311 thousand 27 registrations were received, including 60 patents, 2 utility models, 532 designs and 477 trademarks.
Özer stated that the commercialization of 184 products, whose registration was taken, was realized and noted that more than 200 million income was provided to the revolving fund of vocational and technical education institutions.
