Organized for the fourth time in Road Label status by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality under the partnership of World Athletics, International Marathon Izmir Avek was run with the participation of athletes from all over the world and our country. The slogan of the race in honor of the 100th anniversary of our Republic was determined as “We are Celebrating the 100 Years Marathon in Marathon İzmir”. The first place in the breathtaking marathon went to Ethiopia in women and Kenya in men.

Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer and Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu also participated in the 10-kilometer 19 May Road Race within the scope of the organization. President Soyer, who also gave the start of the run, said that Marathon İzmir is also a movement of kindness and said, "There is a holiday enthusiasm in the city, we are all very excited".

In women, Kebebush Yisma from Ethiopia was second with 2.32.49, and Kenyan Emmah Cheruto Ndiwa was third with 2.35.08. Kenya's Hammington Kimaiyo came second with 2.12.38 and Kenya's Kenneteh Kiprop Omulo took third place with the same rank.

Polat Arıkan achieved the best place among Turkish athletes with 2.17.37. Yusuf Önal, Serkan Kaya and Mustafa Es followed Polat Arıkan in seventh place. In women's women, Svetlana Kaya achieved the best time with 3.05.15 and became 10th, followed by Selma Altundis, Elif Gül Erdemir, Svetlana Zakhvataeva.

The start of the 19 May Road Run, which is run on the same day as the Marathon Izmir, was initiated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor. Tunç Soyer, Youth and Sports Minister Mehmet Kasapoğlu and Republican People's Party (CHP) İzmir Provincial President Şenol Aslanoğlu gave together. Waste Free Marathon goal achieved once again

Marathon İzmir Avek was also run for a “sustainable world” this year in line with the “Global Goals” determined by the United Nations (UN), and the goal was achieved once again. In Marathon İzmir Avek, the plastic bottles given to the runners were collected in waste bins for recycling, and all materials were ensured to be recyclable. All advertisements and directions for the sponsors and the race on the track were collected one by one to be recycled at the end of the race.
