With the cooperation of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Sailing Club, an event was held in Mogan Lake in order to introduce sailing to young people, to encourage sports and to raise awareness. OBJECTIVE: INTRODUCE THE SPORT OF Sailing
Approximately 19 sports fans attended the event, which was held as part of the upcoming 100 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day celebrations.
ABB Youth and Sports Services Department Sports Services Branch Manager Burak Özgül said, “With the cooperation of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Sailing Club, we are organizing an enjoyable event supported by the Ankara City Orchestra with cheerful songs in order to make our university youth love sailing and increase their interest in sports. While the Metropolitan Municipality will continue to support Turkish sports and athletes in all branches of sports, Deniz Esen, the Treasurer and Member of the Board of Ankara Sailing Club, also said:
“We came together to introduce sailing to our university students, who were of great help to the earthquake victims. We would like to announce that sailing is possible in Ankara, that this sport is up-to-date and active and has been practiced since 2000. We are here to do sports, to be able to go from one place to another by using the wind and nature without harming the nature, and to bring people together.”
In the event, where the Ankara City Orchestra presented a musical feast, the young people both learned to sail and had fun to their heart's content.
