A pre-paired mobile phone was required to use WhatsApp on the smartwatch. Your watch can then display incoming messages, but not all sohbetyou cannot read. Other features, such as voice messages, are also only indirectly accessible on current smartwatches. All this will likely change soon.

As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on its own app for smartwatches with WearOS. This is already available through the current beta version of the messenger for Android mobiles. Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and Google Pixel Watch are currently listed as compatible.

If you want to use the app, you have to link it to your WhatsApp account once via your mobile phone, just like you would on a PC or tablet. The app does not currently support all Messenger features. Until now, it was not clear when the app will be released for all users. Google has now announced this at Google I/O. The WearOS version of WhatsApp should appear in the summer and then support phone calls as well.
