In the first phase of the work to be carried out throughout the city of Eskişehir, 22 thousand buildings in the Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı regions will be examined with the "rapid evaluation method".

Within the scope of the "Joint Service Project Protocol for Establishment of Existing Building Stock Inventory and Evaluation of Building Safety in Terms of Earthquake Risk"; Technical trainings on protocol principles were given to the engineers who met the application requirements by posting an advertisement within the body of IMO, by Anadolu University, ESOGÜ and ESTU Civil Engineering Department lecturers. Subsequently, the engineers who were successful as a result of the examination were recruited to perform this task.

After the completion of the training, the engineers hired by IMO started their field work in the Sazova neighborhood. Engineers, working in teams of two, carry out activities to create inventory in all neighborhoods within the scope of the protocol. Authorities stated that investigations will continue uninterruptedly in the neighborhoods as part of the studies.

Stating that the collar ID cards of the working engineers can be questioned, the officials of the Eskişehir Branch of the Chamber of Civil Engineers said, “Our citizens can also make inquiries about the duties and names of our engineers who have job ID cards and their names, by calling IMO or our municipalities. These examinations are carried out with the rapid methods specified in the Principles Regarding the Detection of Risky Buildings in the Implementation Regulation of the Law No. 6306 published by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. The works carried out will not mean risky or not on the basis of the building, and it is a general-scale prioritization study.” said.

The field work, which will be carried out for 22 thousand buildings in the districts of Odunpazarı and Tepebaşı in the first stage, will then continue throughout the city.
