Minister Derya Yanık reminded that the Monitoring and Evaluation Board for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was established with the Presidential Circular published on December 3, 2021, in order to ensure that disabled citizens participate effectively in social life against all kinds of obstacles, neglect and exclusion, without discrimination. Yanik said, “The Disabled Persons, which was established to carry out legislative studies on the protection and development of the rights of the disabled, to advise on the measures to be taken in cases of rights violations, to prepare a strategy document and action plans on the subject, to express opinions on those prepared, and to ensure inter-institutional cooperation and coordination on the rights of the disabled. We resolutely continue the work of the Rights Monitoring and Evaluation Board in cooperation with all institutions.” used his statements.

Minister Yanık stated that they postponed the first meeting of this year, which was planned to be held in February, due to the earthquake disaster in Turkey on February 6, and said, “The senior representatives of the relevant public institutions and organizations and the two most representative ones operating in the field of disability at the national level. We will hold the first meeting in 2023 of our Disability Rights Monitoring and Evaluation Board, which consists of senior representatives of the confederation, on May 4th. said.

9 working groups were created

In order to achieve the goals of the 2030 Unhindered Vision Document announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Yanık stated that the duty of coordination regarding the promotion and monitoring of the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which was shared with the public on December 2, 2022, belongs to the Ministry of Family and Social Services. noted:

“We will carry out this coordination task with the cooperation of all parties. The parties to the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities are all public institutions and organizations, especially those operating in the field of disability, non-governmental organizations, private organizations and universities. In our Board meeting, we will evaluate the current situation and future plans of the institutions and organizations that our Board members represent, regarding the activities they are responsible for in the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In addition, at the first meeting of our Board, we decided to monitor the implementation of the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the working groups we established. In this framework, we will monitor the realization levels of the activities included in the Action Plan with a total of 9 working groups, including the Monitoring and Evaluation Main Working Group on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”

“We have set up a web-based monitoring module”

Stating that they established a web-based monitoring module in order to carry out this monitoring in a systematic way, Minister Yanık said, “With the information and data collected on the activities included in the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, a monitoring and evaluation report will be prepared in each policy area every 6 months by the working groups. The main report covering all policy areas will be prepared and published under the coordination of our Ministry. Thanks to the working groups and the web-based monitoring module, we aim to carry out the activities included in the National Action Plan for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in an effective and systematic way.” said.
