Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that they have completed the preparations for the Academic Support Program, which will be launched from the next academic year, for students who want to prepare for the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) in the last year of vocational and technical Anatolian high schools.
Minister Özer made statements regarding the Academic Support Program, which will be implemented for the first time in order to support the career planning of students studying at vocational and technical Anatolian high schools when they reach the 12th grade, as the Ministry of National Education.
Özer stated that a new university preparation model will be implemented for vocational high school students who have applied approximately 250 thousand technical programs after finishing the third year of high school and going to the last year. We offer two new options for them to continue their education or to receive intensive academic education by choosing the academic field that suits them.” gave the information.
Books with lesson charts are ready

Noting that 24 textbooks have been prepared for students to be prepared for YKS within the scope of the Academic Support Program, Özer said that the Basic Proficiency Tests (TYT) and Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) to be carried out by OSYM are taken into account in the YKS preparation books within the scope of the Academic Support Program prepared by the Ministry experts.
Students were presented with 4 different options
Regarding the prepared YKS preparatory books, Minister Özer said, “We have prepared 4 different options: mathematics and science, mathematics and Turkish language and literature, social studies and Turkish language and literature, foreign language programs according to the academic preferences of our students. Academic Support Program books will be ready on the desks of our vocational high school students at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year.” he said.

Mahmut Özer also stated that the electronic contents enriched as a question bank are published on the websites Kariyer.eba.gov.tr and Yolcumateryal.eba.gov.tr, emphasizing that in this way, vocational high school students who pass the last year are provided with the opportunity to prepare for university in digital environment as well as in printed books. .
31 hours of YKS preparation course per week
Minister Özer noted the following regarding the Academic Support Program, which will be implemented in the 2023-2024 academic year: “The students who are enrolled in the Anatolian vocational program of vocational high schools and whose success score is 11 and above at the end of the 70th grade and students of the Anatolian technical program will benefit from the program. Students who choose the program will graduate from the Anatolian Technical Program. With the Academic Support Program, students will be supported academically by taking 31 hours of classes per week to prepare for university in addition to their regular curriculum. Among the 11th grade vocational high school students, 231 thousand 373 students enrolled in the Anatolian vocational program, those who meet the conditions and 16 thousand 241 students enrolled in the Anatolian technical program will be able to benefit from the Academic Support Program.
