Thousands of packages of cigarettes of different brands were seized during the operations carried out at the Esendere Customs Gate in the last month by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce. It was determined that the market value of the seized cigarettes was over 230 thousand Turkish liras.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, within the framework of the risk analysis studies carried out at the Esendere Customs Gate, the vehicles deemed to be risky were sent for x-ray scanning. Upon detection of suspicious concentrations, the vehicles taken to the search hangar were meticulously searched by the Customs Enforcement teams.

As a result of the searches accompanied by detector dogs, a total of 6 packs of cigarettes were seized, hidden in many different areas from various parts of the towing cabins of the vehicles, to the natural spaces of the trailers, from the fuel tanks to the various gaps in their hoods.

It has been noted that the market value of the cigarettes, most of which are without banderol or carrying foreign banderol, is over 230 thousand Turkish liras.

Investigations into the events continue before the Yüksekova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
