The importance of digitalization and technology in terms of economy was emphasized at the 7th International İzmir Economics Congress, which was held in cooperation with Yaşar University and İKSAD Institute.

The opening speeches of the congress hosted by Yaşar University were made by Yaşar University Vocational School Director and Congress President Prof. Dr. Şevkinaz Gümüşoğlu, President of İKSAD Dr. Mustafa Latif Emek, Yaşar University Rector Prof. Dr. Cemali Dinçer and Assoc. Dr. Osman Kubilay Gül performed it.

ECONOMICS CONGRESS IS THE CHALLENGE OF THE ECONOMY

Stating that the 1st Economics Congress is one of the cornerstones of the Turkish economy, Yaşar University Vocational School Director and Congress President Prof. Dr. Şevkinaz Gümüşoğlu said, “Atatürk knew very well that an independent country can only exist with an independent and strong economy. The fact that he wanted the 17st Economics Congress to be organized in İzmir, an important port city, on February 4 – March 1923, 1, shows that he believes in the economic potential of our city and the existence of innovative, reliable, hardworking and entrepreneurial manpower that will develop it. This is important for the country to be economically strong, to be independent and to be careful against attacks on the values of democracy. Hard work is the guarantee of democracy's success. Atatürk opened a bright path for Turkey to become an independent country with the Economics Congress and many studies based on common sense. For this reason, I always commemorate our leader, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who made us a prosperous society. With the online participation of academics from 21 countries,

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the realization of the 60th International İzmir Economy Congress, where 80 domestic and more than 7 international papers were presented.”

INDEPENDENCE IS POSSIBLE WITH A STRONG ECONOMY

IKSAD President Dr. Mustafa Latif Emek said, “As IKSAD Institute, our activities continue with approximately 43 universities in 200 countries from Japan to the USA. We are waving the flag of our country using the language of scientific diplomacy. In the first years of the Republic of Turkey, economic policies were determined at the Izmir Economy Congress and implemented with future-oriented practices. At that time, the foundations of many industrial establishments were laid. Good places have been reached in the production of basic products and agricultural products that the country needs. 100 years have passed since then. There are many issues that we need to question today. There is no point where the economy has not spread. If you want to carry out a quality education policy, you need to be economically strong. In order to be strong and have a say in every field in the defense industry, energy and health fields, economic power is needed,” he said.

YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY

Emphasizing that investments in the field of technology from physical labor in the world have started to come to the fore more, Emek continued his words as follows: “The countries that have a say in the field of technology have succeeded in obtaining the products to be obtained from thousands of decares of land in a single product with the brands in their hands. Unfortunately, we do not have a global brand in 2023. Our country is in a difficult place due to its geography. We were directly affected by the negativities experienced in the neighboring countries, where the religious wars fought the great countries in terms of sharing the wealth arising from natural resources. Despite this, Türkiye managed to show itself to the world in democratic and economic fields. With the limited resources of our country, importance is given to the education of students. Our students have a great responsibility for the economic future of the country.”

THE CONGRESS ON ECONOMICS HAS HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE

Saying "We are honored to host this valuable congress", Yaşar University Rector Prof. Dr. Cemali Dinçer also said: “Exactly 100 years ago, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his friends, who set out to be an independent country that attaches importance to national sovereignty, chose İzmir for the 1st Economics Congress, where the economy and development of the country will be discussed a few months before the proclamation of the Republic. . This congress convened with 135 delegates from all professions from all over Turkey in the environment of the national struggle and when the Lausanne talks were interrupted. The economics congress, in which the principles of national economy were accepted, has a historical importance. At this congress, where the economic foundations of the Turkey of the future were laid, a new hope and vision were set for all people living in Anatolia and for the rescue of the country. In line with this vision, hardworking people who adopted honesty as a principle gave priority to production and savings. He appreciated all his resources. It aimed to undersign development and innovations. This society, which is interested in science and art and open to cooperation, made great efforts to consolidate its future generations in accordance with the economic and social developments of the world. In the 100th anniversary of our Republic, the needs and expectations of Turkey, which has put its signature under democratic contemporary innovations, are also the subject of the 2023 economics congress. On this occasion, I commemorate Atatürk and the heroes of the national struggle with respect and gratitude.
