Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Bodrum İçmeler Advanced Biological İçmeler He attended the opening ceremony of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Minister Mehmet Ersoy, in his speech at the ceremony, stated that they are preparing for the competition of the future of tourism in Turkey today and said, "Muğla will be one of the most important actors of this future with the investments we make, the projects and services we produce." said.

Ersoy said that they have taken steps to secure the future of Muğla, which is one of the most important destinations of Turkish and world tourism with its tourism potential, cultural and civilizational heritage, and that they have made their investments.

Emphasizing that the Ministry's cooperation with local governments is always strong and solution-oriented, Ersoy said, "Whether they are tourism centers or places with tourism potential, we support municipalities that make landscaping or infrastructure applications, both in material and technical areas, and in terms of supervision. Our Honorable President has taken these supports one step further and instructed us to undertake the relevant investments of the municipalities that cannot realize the treatment infrastructure investments in the holiday regions. In this direction, we made one of our most important investments in Muğla Bodrum.” he said.

Bodrum İçmeler Reminding that the Wastewater Treatment Facility was built in 1994, Ersoy said that the facility has completed its economic life, and that Bodrum's population change is far from meeting the ever-increasing domestic and foreign visitors' needs.

Stating that the facility had a capacity of 10 thousand cubic meters before, Ersoy said, “At the same time, a step had to be taken by considering the present and more importantly the future. By signing a cooperation protocol with Muğla Metropolitan Municipality MUSKİ General Directorate, we, as the ministry, undertook the infrastructure investments covering the sewer network, pumping lines and waste water treatment facilities, and started the work without wasting any time.” gave the information.

Ersoy explained that the first stage of the project was designed and the 15 kilometer stage in total, covering approximately 4 kilometers of sewerage network line, 23 kilometers of rainwater network line and 42 kilometers of sewerage collector line, was completed in February 2023.

İçmelerStating that the construction work of the Bag Wastewater Treatment Plant and related infrastructure facilities was completed in 19 months despite the Kovid-14 outbreak, Ersoy said:

“We have brought our new facility with a capacity of 30 thousand cubic meters, together with an additional 20 kilometers of sewerage network line. We also rehabilitated the existing deep sea discharge with a diameter of 400 millimeters and made it compatible with the new facility. With these investments, which we have realized as the first stage and have a current value of 600 million TL and this amount is covered by our ministry, it has reached a capacity to meet the needs of the region for 20 years. Hopefully, we will carry our facility to a capacity of 17 thousand cubic meters with an increase of 37 thousand cubic meters in the second stage, and we will bring a work to Bodrum that will meet the need for 50 years, considering the projected population changes."

Emphasizing that the seas will be better protected by connecting all the hotels and houses in the region to the facility, Ersoy gave information about the infrastructure investments made by the ministry in Antalya.

Ersoy stated that Kovid-19 has changed the world and sectors, and tourism is perhaps the sector that feels this change the most.

Noting that the tourism of the future is sustainable, and sustainability demands a healthy environment and nature-friendly working approach with all other criteria, Ersoy said:

“We, in the 2023 Turkey Tourism Strategy and Action Plan, emphasized our purpose and determination for the necessity of benefiting from Turkey's natural, cultural, historical and geographical values ​​in a balance between protection and use. At the point we have reached today, there is a Turkey that has established a very strong cooperation with the International Sustainable Tourism Council and prepared the Sustainable Tourism Program and has its international registration done. Türkiye was the first country to do this on a country basis. We have also determined our 2028 targets in this direction. We are preparing Turkish tourism for the competition of the future today. Muğla will be one of the most important actors of this future with the investments we make, the projects and services we produce. It will take its indispensable place in the Turkish Century, which we are advancing under the leadership of our President.

After the speech, Ersoy and the protocol members opened the facility.
