Who is Seven Kings Must Dieda?

Seven Kings Must Die is now on Netflix. If you want to know who the seven kings who died in The Last Kingdom sequel are, you've come to the right place. Below are major spoilers for Seven Kings Must Die.

There is a prophecy in the movie that seven kings must die. It is narrated by Ingrith, the wife of Finan, who also died in the movie.

We've shared all the major deaths in Seven Kings Must Die below, starting with these seven kings.

Who are the seven kings who died in Seven Kings Must Die?

King Edward (Timothy Innes) is the first king to kick the bucket in Seven Kings Must Die. That's what started this big ward and brought Uhtred out of retirement into the equation.

Things get tough from there! Together with his spies, Anlaf forms a large, combined army with the four kings of the British Isles to attack Aethelstan. If they win, they eventually maintain their dominance rather than kneel to the Aethelstand. If he builds England without them, they will have no choice as to what to do. They attack together.

The trap set in the war that returns with Uhtred's plan results in the deaths of five people who are not yet king, but the king's son. We've shared these five future kings below:

  • Shetland
  • Scotland
  • Adam
  • Strathclyde
  • Orkney

The last king to die is obviously Uhtred, right? But is he really dead? Is he really dead? Here's where things get a little interesting.

At the end of the movie, it is revealed that Aethelstan is largely considered the first King of England 15 years before his death. Is he the seventh king? Did Uhtred live?

Does Uhtred die in the Last Kingdom?

Uhtred is basically the King in the North (umbria) at the end of The Last Kingdom season 5, and it's all about whether he chooses a side or not.

At the end of Seven Kings Must Die, and despite numerous betrayals, Uhtred takes Aethelstan's side and hatches a plan to stop Anlaf's forces. Uhtred is badly wounded in battle, but we see him committing his allegiance to Aethelstan, who later formed England. Then, Uhtred is forced to make a choice: stay with the living or join the Vikings in Valhalla.

We can't see the choice he made. Instead, we get a voiceover from Finan:

“Are the seven kings dead? The histories do not say whether Lord Uhtred survived. But those who know him like me know him as the greatest warrior of our time and the man who built a kingdom.”

So the audience will decide what happens to Uhtred. I mean, in the end Uhtred had to die, right? Maybe it was before Aethelstan and maybe after, but I think one of these two characters would be the seventh king to die.

Other notable deaths in Seven Kings Must Die

There are a lot of notable deaths in Seven Kings Must Die, but thankfully, many of our favorite characters have yet to face their bitter ends.

We've shared the other major deaths below:

  • Ingrith and Finan's family: After Uhtred and the gang are lured in, the remaining inhabitants of Bebbanburg are taken to a cave and locked inside, which kills them.
  • Alhelm: He was hanged in the woods by Aethelstan's men after informing Uhtred of his plan to betray him.
  • alfweard: He is King Aethelstan's brother and was killed early in the movie for refusing to kneel. He planned to challenge Aethelstan's claim to continue the war.
  • English: After being captured in battle against Uhtred and Aethelstan, he was killed by Aethelstan's men.

That's all the important deaths we can think of from the movie. Let us know if we missed the big ones in the comments.
