Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) EGO General Directorate installed bicycle transport apparatus on 480 EGO buses within the scope of SMART Ankara Project.
Within the scope of the SMART Ankara project carried out with the EGO General Directorate, the European Union, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, bicycle transport apparatus was installed on 480 EGO buses in order to popularize the use of bicycles throughout the city and to ensure integration with public transportation.
Stating that another project has been completed and implemented within the scope of Smart Ankara, EGO Deputy General Manager Zafer Tekbudak gave the following information about the works carried out:
“The Equipment Supply Project for Smart Ankara was started on 15.08.2022 and the contract includes the manufacture and assembly of bicycle transport apparatus for 480 buses. In this context, we installed a double-carrier bicycle carrying apparatus on the front of 480 buses in our fleet and offered them to our citizens. Our citizens who want to travel with their personal bicycles will be able to continue their journey after placing their bicycles in the apparatus in accordance with the usage instructions.
Within the scope of the Smart Ankara Project, 2 panel vans were purchased to be used in field operations, and 34 meters of bicycle ramps were installed at 290 metro stations.
While trainings are given to EGO drivers by the project team about the apparatus attached to the buses, citizens are also explained visually and in writing in the QR code information notes attached to the front of the buses on how to use the apparatus system.
