Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Stray Animals Nursing Home is in Service

The modern Stray Animals Nursing Home, which was built by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in the Kirişçiler Mahallesi of Kepez District, started to host dear friends. The dogs and cats staying in the Stray Animals Temporary Nursing Home in Kepezaltı were moved to their new places.

The Street Animal Care Home Project, built by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality on an area of ​​42 thousand square meters in Kepez Kirişçiler, has become a warm home for dear friends. With the completion of the project, which has a closed area of ​​6 square meters, the animals staying in the Stray Animals Temporary Nursing Home in Kepezaltı were transported.

Better Service

Cats and dogs are very happy in the free movement areas in the project, which draws attention with its large shelter and living areas, underfloor heating and modern cooling systems. Mehmet Kocakasap, Deputy Director of Veterinary Affairs Branch of Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department, said, “We recently moved to our new place with our animals and started to serve. Besides creating cage environments for our dogs and cats, we provide services in much better conditions than in the past with our clinical environments, emergency response units, quarantine unit and warehouse area.

Responding to Increasing Needs

Stating that the Stray Animals Nursing Home is planned to meet the needs of the increasing animal population, Kocakasap said: “This place has been thought through in more detail and with more technical possibilities. The living spaces of the animals were designed to be larger. Underfloor heating system was designed. Currently, we have 350 dogs, 130 disabled dogs, 145 endangered dogs, 70 disabled cats, and around 130 cats under treatment.”

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Stray Animals Nursing Home includes mothers with kittens, disabled cats, sick infirmary, intensive care, pre- and post-operation departments, quarantine, pre-registration and emergency observation departments. In addition, there is a section for dogs of prohibited breeds.
