New Link of Transportation Chain, Courthouse Junction Opened in Bursa

The Courthouse Junction, built by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, was opened to traffic with a ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony, Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş said, “Can we put one more stone on top of another? We are in his worry and excitement.”

In order to eliminate the transportation problem in Bursa, the Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its works such as road widening and new roads, smart intersections, promoting public transportation, and rail system investments, is opening the blocked veins of traffic with new bridged intersections. With the relocation of the new courthouse, the increasing traffic load at the connection point of the Near East Ring Road to Istanbul Street has been resolved with a two-loop intersection. Within the scope of the project, two bridges with a length of 3 meters with 117 spans and a length of 2 meters with 54 spans and a connection road of 3 thousand 500 meters were built. The Courthouse Junction, which gives a breath of fresh air to the regional traffic and costs approximately 165 million TL, was opened to transportation with a ceremony attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank.

The primary issue is; transport

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş reminded that the population of Bursa, which is rapidly growing and developing, increases by 50 thousand and the number of vehicles increases by 30-40 thousand every year, and according to the researches, it is predicted that the population will reach 13 million in 14-4 years. For this reason, Mayor Aktaş underlined that the first priority issue of Bursa is transportation, and said, “We are relieving Bursa's transportation problems with smart touches, new road constructions, road expansions, asphalting, bridge construction and improvements in public transportation. This region has also become one of the critical points where there is intense circulation, especially with the arrival of the District Court of Justice. With the Police Department, the Mufti, our transportation and science construction site, GUHEM, the Science and Technology Center and the fairground right next to it, it is a point where traffic is very intense. So at this point a crossroads was an inevitable reality. "The Courthouse Junction, which costs approximately 165 million TL, will be beneficial for our Bursa," he said.

Investments do not slow down

President Aktaş, who also gave information about the investments they have made to breathe life into Bursa traffic, reminded that they invested only 3 million TL in the Acemler region with investments such as expansions in the junction arms, Oulu tube crossing, Hayran Cadde, Sedat 750 Bridge, Mudanya road jump bridge. Stating that 56% of the traffic has been relieved with the smart intersection applications they have implemented at 40 points, Mayor Aktaş said, “We have completed the 6,5-kilometer City Hospital connection road. The 4,5-kilometer Yunuseli road, which is an important alternative for residential areas between Mudanya and Bursa Intercity Bus Terminal, has been completed. The bridge that will connect the vehicles coming from the direction of Acemler directly to Fuat Kuşçuoğlu Street with the new bridge without entering the Near East Ring Road has come to the completion stage. Again, within the scope of our works to create an alternative route to the south of the Ankara-İzmir highway, we are adding a bridge over Balıklıdere. As the Metropolitan Municipality, can we put one more stone on top of another? We are in his worry and excitement,” he said.

Investing in the future requires vision

Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank thanked everyone who contributed to the construction of the Courthouse Junction and wished the intersection to be beneficial. Emphasizing that the Metropolitan Municipality continues to work to eliminate the transportation problem in Bursa and to provide transportation infrastructures to this city, Minister Varank said, “These works continue at full speed, both with rail systems and with different intersections and roads. One of them is this important intersection. It will significantly reduce traffic congestion here. Of course, we are aware of how Bursa has developed day by day, how it has become a center of attraction, and in this sense, we need to think one step further when planning this city in terms of urbanism. As AK staff, we design these urban planning plans from the beginning with our municipality and central government and continue on our way. This requires an important vision. Taking steps by thinking about the next 10 or 20 years of this city, and setting out with the future in mind requires an important vision. In fact, we have been acting with this vision for 21 years under the leadership of our President. We are struggling to put stones on top of each other in this country and to bring services together with our beloved nation,” he said.

Secure and fast access

Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat, who took the floor at the ceremony, emphasized that the future should always be considered in infrastructure investments, and that infrastructure investments should continue without slowing down in Turkey, which has very important goals in terms of development. Noting that the municipality and investor institutions in Bursa are conscious of this, they give weight to these investments with all their strength, Canbolat said, “Municipalism activities are carried out in a modern sense in Bursa and the transportation problems that may be experienced by Bursa residents in the coming years are immediately resolved by our Metropolitan Municipality. In order to relieve the traffic here, our Metropolitan Municipality rolled up its sleeves and offered this beautiful service to our citizens of Bursa. With the construction of this intersection, our citizens had uninterrupted, safe and fast access to traffic. Good luck to our Junction Bursa," he said.

With the ribbon cut after the speeches, the Courthouse Junction was officially opened to traffic.
