'Sustainable Beekeeping' Training for Farmers in Samsun

Within the scope of the 'Development of Sustainable Beekeeping Project' carried out in cooperation with Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and Eastern Black Sea Project Regional Development Administration (DOKAP), training was given to beekeepers in Kavak district. Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “We continue our efforts to further develop and spread beekeeping in our city.”

Within the scope of the 'Development of Sustainable Beekeeping Project' carried out by Samsun Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with the Eastern Black Sea Project Regional Development Administration (DOKAP), training activities are organized for beekeepers throughout the province. Within the scope of the project, training was given to beekeepers in Kavak district with the contributions of Kavak District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and Kavak Local Action Group. In the program attended by the personnel of the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the causes of bee deaths and the precautions to be taken, the importance of producing new bee products and what those who make a living from beekeeping should do were explained.

'TO INCREASE HONEY EFFICIENCY AND REDUCE BEE DEATH'

The Head of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Agricultural Services Department, who gave the training, Dr. Ali Korkmaz stated that every kind of work is done for the development of beekeeping in the city and said, “As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are constantly giving these trainings to our farmers throughout the city, within the scope of the project we are carrying out. Our aim is to reduce bee deaths and increase honey productivity in the colonies in Samsun. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we provide training, publication and project contribution in order to ensure that our beekeepers produce under better conditions without falling into economic difficulties.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Demir, drawing attention to the importance of the 'Development of Sustainable Beekeeping Project' carried out by the Department of Agricultural Services, said, “We continue our efforts to further develop and spread beekeeping in our city. In this context, the project we carry out with the contribution of DOKAP is of great importance for beekeeping in our province. We are producing projects for the development of agricultural production and animal husbandry in our city, on this path we set out by saying 'the future of agriculture, the priority of Samsun'. Our contributions continue in this process, and we are starting to purchase machinery for the production of additive-free and residue-free basic honeycomb, which is the biggest problem of our beekeeping throughout the year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the DOKAP management for their contributions to our projects and our province.”
