The General Directorate of Development Agencies of the Ministry of Industry and Technology launched a Call to Support Social Procurement to support women who produce in the earthquake zone. With the call opened within the scope of the Social Entrepreneurship, Empowerment and Adaptation Project (SEECO), companies will have their products manufactured in container cities, and development agencies will set up workshops suitable for these products. Here, women will both learn a profession and earn an income. The deadline for the call for disaster victims to participate in employment is on April 24.

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP SUPPORT WILL BE GIVEN UP TO 300 THOUSAND LIRA

With the social entrepreneurship mobilization launched in 11 cities damaged by the earthquake, it is aimed that women and young people staying in tents or containers become entrepreneurs. “Social Entrepreneurship Centers” will be established in the SEECO Project, financed by the European Union and carried out with the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, General Directorate of Development Agencies and the World Bank. These centers cover 11 provinces within the jurisdiction of Çukurova Development Agency, Eastern Mediterranean Development Agency, İpekyolu Development Agency, Dicle Development Agency and Karacadağ Development Agency. In these centers, women and young people with business ideas will receive trainings to mature their business ideas, we will provide mentoring support, and finally they will benefit from grant supports to bring their business ideas to life.

Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology, who examined the industrial sites that were badly damaged due to earthquakes in Hatay, noted that with this call, women living in container cities and tent cities gave a purchase guarantee for the products they produce, and said: has a project. We give a purchase guarantee for all products produced by our earthquake victims brothers and sisters here. In this way, our earthquake survivors will both gain an occupation and contribute to their economy. We have implemented this plan as well. We both support their production and buy their products in container cities and tent cities.” said.

Pointing out that women entrepreneurs, women's cooperatives are structures established with the support of Development Agencies, Minister Varank said, “We directed our Development Agencies as follows. If there is a cooperative that has a product here and continues to produce, we are ready to buy their products and we give a purchase guarantee.” said.

Varank continued his words as follows: Let's say; Our citizens, especially women, want to produce in container cities and tents, they produce something. If they do this, we give them a purchase guarantee. You just sit down and you're sewing, do your sewing and we'll buy it.

SUPPORT TO PRODUCTION

Explaining that they built these structures one by one in container cities and tent cities, Varank said, “Our development agency travels and explains these issues. Through our Development Agencies, we give them the necessary support here. We both support their production and buy their products in container cities and tent cities. We are doing this right now.” said.

COOPERATION WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS

57 livelihood facilities will be established in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Mersin, Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis and Mardin. With the cooperation of Development Agencies and local governments, the facilities that will be converted from containers will primarily enable women and young people to step into the entrepreneurship ecosystem. Entrepreneurs will be given training and consultancy support. Grants of up to 300 thousand liras, including the purchase of machinery and equipment, will be given to those who realize their business idea.

SOCIAL PURCHASE

Within the scope of the call, “social purchasing” protocols are signed with large companies operating in the textile, manufacturing, food, industry and service sectors in Turkey. In this context, companies will provide purchase guarantees to earthquake-affected entrepreneurs. Earthquake survivor women and youth will produce products that meet the standards demanded by large companies. Larger firms will also help products reach wider markets.

APPLICATION UNTIL 24 APRIL

With this call, it will be ensured that the disaster survivors, who had a difficult time after the earthquake, can participate in employment. Support will be given to the socio-economic development of the region. Women and youth staying in tent and container cities will be assisted in their psychosocial recovery.
