The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) warned about the heavy rainfall expected in the provinces of Adıyaman, Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş, Gaziantep and Malatya located in the earthquake zone.
In the statement made by MGM, it was said: “According to the latest evaluations; Showers and thunderstorms that will start in the region today (Friday) afternoon, by increasing its effect after this evening (Friday), strong (21-50 kg / m2) throughout the earthquake region, Adıyaman province in general and the north and west of Şanlıurfa, Kahramanmaraş. It is expected to be very strong (51-75 kg/m2) in the south and east of Gaziantep and in the north and east of Gaziantep.
It is estimated that the precipitation will be in the form of heavy sleet and snow in the north and east of Kahramanmaraş, in the north of Adıyaman, in the south and west of Malatya at an altitude of over 500 meters.
Due to the recent heavy rains in the region, the soil is saturated, the levels of the streams and rivers have risen, and the expected new heavy rains are taken into account, in areas where there are lightning, hail, strong winds and snowfalls, with occasional thunderstorms. One should be careful and cautious against negativities such as icing and frost, disruptions in transportation.”
