In the operation carried out in Ankara Keçiören by the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Commerce, 3 tons of smuggled tobacco weighing 600 kilograms was seized.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, as a result of the intelligence studies carried out by the Ankara Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams under the Ministry of Commerce, smuggled tobacco and tobacco products were found in a truck.

The vehicle in question was monitored by the teams. On the same day, it was seen that several people approached the vehicle and opened the back cover of the truck. Upon this, the search made by the teams that intervened in the vehicle, it was determined that there were packages of tobacco in many boxes. During the inspections, it was revealed that invalid and previously used labels were affixed to the tobacco packages.

A total of 3 tons and 600 kilograms of smuggled tobacco with fake banderol was seized by the teams, who brought their work at the scene to the last point. In the determinations made, it was determined that the smuggled tobacco seized was worth approximately 5 million liras. The investigation into the incident continues before the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
