A total of 145 kilograms of ecstasy, khat and opium gum were seized at Kapıkule and Esendere Customs Gates and Istanbul Airport during the operations carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams affiliated to the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the statement made by the Ministry, Customs Enforcement teams confiscated various types of narcotic substances with the operations they carried out within the scope of the fight against drugs, and again did not allow the poison dealers to pass. In the first operation carried out within the scope of the work carried out by the teams, a truck that came to the Kapıkule Customs Gate to enter Turkey was subjected to physical control after passport and registration procedures. When it was seen that there were pills in transparent colored bags in the cupboard above the driver's bed during the controls, the scope of the search was expanded and detailed areas were explored. During the search, 61 thousand 262 ecstasy pills with a total weight of 249 kilograms and 48 grams were seized, hidden inside the driver's bed, mattress, upholstery, and on the backs of the driver's and passenger seats in the driver's cabin.

On the other hand, the Customs Enforcement teams carried out two operations at the Esendere Customs Gate. In the first, a truck that came to the customs area to enter Turkey was x-rayed for analysis as a result of the analysis of the teams. Upon detection of suspicious density in the vehicle cabin, the vehicle was sent to the search hangar, where it was subjected to detailed control. During the search, in which the narcotic detector dogs were also engaged, 21 kilos of 124 grams of opium gum was seized, hidden in the driver's bed in the driver's cabin.

Not long after the operation, the truck of the same company was x-rayed as part of the risk analysis and targeting studies of the teams, and it was determined that there was a suspicious density. During the controls carried out, 54 kilograms of 632 grams of opium gum was caught hidden in the area where the vehicle battery is located, and a total of 75 kilos of 756 grams of opium gum was seized.

Another operation was carried out at Istanbul Airport. Customs Enforcement teams operating at the airport evaluated a passenger who was determined to arrive in Istanbul from the Republic of South Africa / Johannesburg as a result of the analyzes they carried out, considering it risky and followed up. 36 kilograms and 160 grams of khat type drugs were seized in the suitcase search of the person, who was determined to use Istanbul Airport as a transit and go abroad again.

As a result of the operations carried out by the teams, a total of 61,2 kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized, including 75,7 kilograms of ecstasy, 36,1 kilograms of opium gum and 173 kilograms of khat.

Investigations are continuing before the Edirne, Yüksekova and Gaziosmanpaşa Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices regarding the events.
