Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu announced the emergency routes to be used in a possible disaster. Karaismailoğlu said, “North Marmara Highway, Eurasia Tunnel, Marmaray will be an emergency road in case of disaster. We use seismic isolators in Eurasia Tunnel, Marmaray and highway projects.” said.

Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the projects will serve in possible disaster situations and continued as follows: "Whether it is Istanbul Airport or the Northern Marmara Highway, we are talking about a 400-kilometer network, that is, it almost surrounds the entire Marmara. Again, look at the Eurasia Tunnel, one of the rare engineering projects in the world that is double-decker and connects two continents. We can even say three floors, there is a service road under it, to provide maintenance service. There are also seismic isolators there. Insulators protect our tunnel to meet the loads that will come from the earthquake. Likewise, these insulators will serve as structures that minimize the loads from the earthquake and protect the tunnel, just like the Marmaray we built with an immersed tube.”

Explaining that more than 100 kilometers of railway investments are currently underway in Istanbul and they have put two of them into service, Karaismailoğlu said, “The others are continuing. Our metro stations will be used as shelters in such possible disaster situations, and our lines will continue to serve. We say 'life begins when it arrives', in fact, this happens with the strong investments we make," he said.
