Female directors at the festival will compete for the Golden Reel. Gülten Taranç, the founding director of the festival, said, “Our theme this year is breaking the waves. We are going through an extraordinarily difficult time as a country. We need art and cinema, because each of us has been deeply affected and deeply shaken by the earthquake disaster. We believe in the healing of art. We are the memories of this society, we will never forget this period, we will not let it be forgotten. We invite all cinema lovers to watch films at our festival.”
