Informatics Valley Companies Join Horizon Europe

Informatics Valley, Turkey's technology and innovation base, is participating in the Horizon Europe Programme, which aims to strengthen the European Union (EU) in the field of science and technology. Horizon Europe Program Information Day was organized in cooperation with Informatics Valley and TUBITAK in order for the companies in Informatics Valley to benefit from the Horizon Europe program. Speaking at the event, Informatics Valley General Manager A. Serdar İbrahimcioğlu said that they aim to make more international projects for companies in Informatics Valley by including Ufuk Europe. TUBITAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal also noted that their aim is to ensure that the potential of Informatics Valley does not stay within the borders of the country.

Informatics Valley EU Horizon European Framework Program Information Day was held at Informatics Valley Kocaeli Central Campus. In the event, TÜBİTAK EU Framework Programs Directorate Horizon Europe Program Turkey National Contact Point Coordinator Serhat Melik made a general presentation on the Horizon Europe Framework Program. While TÜBİTAK Specialist Burak Tiftik made a presentation on the digital field, Serhat Melik talked about the work done in the field of mobility in Horizon Europe in the afternoon session. TÜBİTAK Specialist Tarık Şahin also informed Informatics Valley companies with his EIC/EIT field presentation.

IT VALLEY COMPANIES WILL PARTICIPATE IN MORE INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS

Explaining that they gave information to the companies in the IT Valley after establishing the association, İbrahimcioğlu said, “Our aim is; To ensure that our companies do more international projects and take part in EU projects. Today, we came together with our TÜBİTAK, the institution that does this job best and supports the most projects in Turkey, and with the honor of its esteemed president himself, to listen to what we can do better in this regard.”

HORIZON EUROPE PRESENTATION FROM MANDAL

At the meeting, TÜBİTAK President Mandal made a presentation titled “Co-Development and Co-Success Approach in Horizon Europe Programme”. Making an assessment after the event, Mandal said that Turkey has been a full member of EU research programs since 2006 and that researchers in Turkey, like all European countries, can access these funds.

WE ARE PARTNER OF THE EUR 100 BILLION PROGRAM

Informing that Horizon Europe is a 2021-year program covering the years 2027-7, Mandal said, “Horizon Europe currently provides 100 billion euros of opportunity, we are partners of a 100 billion euros program. As all research institutions in Turkey, we are making an effort to benefit from this much more. “Beyond applying to the program on your own, more partnerships need to happen with other country partnerships in Europe.”

TURKISH COMPANIES' HORIZON EUROPEAN SUCCESS

Pointing out that over 400 Turkish companies have nearly 300 projects in Horizon Europe, Mandal said, “This is a great success. In the past, this might have happened at the end of seven years, but now we have achieved a very high number of companies in the second year of the program. We have a fairly large number of supported projects. We are the project coordinator of 29 of these projects. We coordinate Europe. Our institutions and organizations in Turkey carry out the coordination of 29 projects”.

Latch; Stating that Informatics Valley and Horizon Europe fit together in areas such as smart cities and mobility, he said, “For this reason, we think that it will create a great opportunity area for all our companies in Turkey, but especially for our companies in Informatics Valley. Our aim is to ensure that the potential of Informatics Valley, which is Turkey's technology base, does not remain only within the borders of the country, but that it will increase and grow together with the partners in Europe as a leverage power.

With the European Union's 9th Framework Program, Horizon Europe, it is aimed to support science and innovation activities with a budget of 2021 billion euros between 2027-95,5. Horizon Europe aims to strengthen the EU scientifically and technologically, to increase its innovation capacity, competitiveness and employment.
