How to Put Together a Good Travelling Playlist and Why is it so Important?

Whether you’re travelling for work, planning a weekend getaway, or looking forward to a two-week holiday on an exotic island – getting to enjoy the comforts of home can make a huge difference to your experience. Music is one of these comforts and by taking your favourite songs with you wherever you are going, you’ll be able to add to your enjoyment at the press of a button.

Why choose a good playlist?

Maybe you already have a list of tracks that are your firm favorites, or perhaps you’d like a dedicated playlist that matches the theme of the location you’re visiting to really get you in the mood. Choosing a good playlist can help you to relax and unwind while you’re away from home.  Songs similar to the ones you’d usually listen toare a good way to ensure that you feel comfortable and this can be very important if you’re traveling for business or even for a job interview.

Which devices should you use?

There are so many devices that you can bring with you, so why not take them all? From your mobile phone to a smartwatch, laptop, iPod, or anything in between can all be beneficial and fortunately, all of them are capable of storing and playing music. If you sync your mobile and smartwatch, you could enjoy music while outdoors without even having to look at your phone. If you’d prefer to sit somewhere quiet and relax, then a laptop and headphones may be a better alternative.

How to choose a playlist

Having access to your favorite songs is the first place to start. A good tool or piece of software that provides access to them, whether on or offline can be another option. Plenty of people prefer to download their songs as MP3s and there are platforms that allow this for a small fee. It all depends on the options that you have available as far as your music access is concerned.

Once you have decided on how you’ll be listening, the next thing to do is to put together an exciting playlist that will keep you feeling satisfied throughout your journey and once you reach your destination. Your playlist should include songs that appeal to you so that you don’t get bored. This could be the latest tracks and trending tunes, or some old favorites that always manage to find their way onto your device.

You could even go old school and transfer the songs to a CD and carry a portable player with you. It’s not our job to tell you how to listen – we are writing this guide so that you can consider your options and then design a playlist that’s right for you. Don’t leave things until the last minute either, unless you’re planning on streaming your songs online in which case you could compile as you go.

In our experience however, it’s always a better idea to create a list on paper or in a digital document and then download or add each one to a dedicated playlist in time for your journey. It’s always advisable to consider your journey, whether you’re taking the car, a train, or a plane. For car journeys, upbeat songs are a great way to boost spirits. For trains and planes, on the other hand, lengthier tunes and even ambient sounds are helpful to relax and pass the time.
