Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that the number of students transferred from the ten provinces where the earthquake disaster occurred to other cities is 252 thousand, and that with the opening of schools in the provinces affected by the earthquake and the normalization of education and training, travel to other provinces has come to a standstill and return transfers have started. Özer noted that in this context, 8 thousand 959 students were transferred back to their hometowns.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer emphasized that all opportunities were mobilized for children in the disaster area to meet with their schools and continue their education, and said: “We brought our students together with their teachers in tents, containers and prefabricated schools, and in the first place, we wanted your children to overcome the negative effects of the earthquake, day and night, in a healthy way. We worked in the field with all our friends without saying anything. As it is known, we planned the education and training processes in three phases in ten provinces where the disaster was experienced. 1 March in Kilis, Diyarbakır and Şanlıurfa, which are in the first category; We started education on March 13 in Adana, Gaziantep and Osmaniye, which are in the second category. In Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Malatya and Hatay, education and training will start gradually as of March 27.”

Expressing that a total of 252 students were transferred from ten provinces in the earthquake zone to other provinces, Özer said, "Of the provinces with the highest number of transfers, 829 thousand 34 were transferred to Ankara, 441 thousand 23 to Mersin, 307 thousand 22 to Antalya, 190 thousand 19 to Istanbul. We transferred 434 students to Konya. However, the transfer process from the earthquake zone to other provinces has now come to a standstill. At this point, we see that our students who were transferred to other provinces due to the disaster, as a result of our efforts to normalize education and training in order to normalize life in the earthquake region, and the opening of schools, make return transfers to their hometowns."

Minister Özer also gave information about the number of students who returned to the provinces where the earthquake took place, saying, “3 thousand 402 to Gaziantep, 1.274 to Kahramanmaraş, 878 to Adana, 796 to Hatay, 607 to Osmaniye, 546 to Diyarbakır and Malatya. We carried out the transfer of 533 thousand 486 students, 345 to Şanlıurfa, 92 to Şanlıurfa, 8 to Adıyaman and 959 to Kilis, to their hometowns, in line with their demands, from the provinces they moved to after the earthquake.” shared his knowledge.

Recalling his decision to build 500 new prefabricated steel construction schools in the earthquake zone, Özer said, “Our education family has embraced our students, whom we transferred from the disaster area to other provinces, in their new school. We will overcome all difficulties together and we will always be with our children. We will continue to normalize education and normalize life by bringing our children together with their teachers in their schools in the disaster area. ” he evaluated.
