WHO IS HALUK GÖRGÜN?
prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün was born in Istanbul in 1973. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at Yıldız Technical University, Department of Electrical Engineering, and his doctorate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York, USA in 2003. After graduating from his doctorate, he did post-doctoral scientific studies at the University of Connecticut between 2004-2005. He became an associate professor in 2005 and a professor in 2008 at Yıldız Technical University, where he served as an assistant professor between 2008-2013. Yıldız Technical University, Control and Automation Engineering founding head of the department, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün served as the Head of Control and Automation Engineering Department between 2009-2013. He was the founder of many graduate programs during his Presidency of the Department.
prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün served as the Turkey Delegate of the European Union 2007th Framework Program Energy Area between 2010-7. Görgün was elected as an Associate Member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences in 2013.
Görgün served as the Rector of Gebze Technical University between November 2014 and April 2018. Due to his pioneering contributions to university-industry cooperation during his presidency, he was selected as the Rector of the Year in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 in organizations organized by different organizations.
Görgün, who was a member of the Board of Directors at Informatics Valley, also took part in many commissions and boards at TUBITAK and YÖK. Görgün, who is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Board of Directors of the Gebze Technical Education and Research Foundation, which he contributed to the establishment of, also continues to be a member of the board of trustees in many institutions such as the Turkish Basic Sciences Research Foundation, Yıldız Technical University Foundation and OSTİM Technical University.
Haluk Görgün, who has many national and international articles/statements, publication editorships and projects, was elected as a member of the ASELSAN Board of Directors with the decision of the General Assembly on March 15, 2017 for the first time. He was re-elected as a Member of the Board of Directors at the ASELSAN Ordinary General Assembly Meeting held on April 2, 2018, and was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Board Meeting held on the same day.
At the Board of Directors meeting on April 17, 2018, Prof. Dr. It has been decided that Haluk GÖRGÜN will take office as the General Manager of ASELSAN as of April 27, 2018, in addition to his duty as the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
