The Stakeholder Panel started with the opening speech of Mehmet Yetim, Chairman of ŞUTSO Board of Directors.

The construction sector is the locomotive sector in our province.

Chairman Mehmet Yetim said in his speech: “As you know, the extraordinary earthquake disaster that we suffered in the first week of February affected us deeply and brought along a new planning and process management. Unfortunately, this disaster affected our city sociologically and economically. The construction sector stands out as the locomotive sector in our province. Together with approximately 240 sub-sectors, it constitutes 40% of the economy of our province. 3933 companies registered in our chamber also contribute to the employment of 40 thousand people in the city. In this context, the cessation of the construction sector will cause a serious contraction of the provincial economy.

Our expectation is to take measures that will revive our city's economy again and in a short time, and to bring permanent solutions to the problems." said.

After Chairman Orphan's speech, 8th Vocational Committee Chairman Reşat Uçan, 9th Vocational Committee Chairman Engin Duru, 10th Vocational Committee Chairman Sedat Dülger, 11th Vocational Committee Chairman Ali Demir, Public Contractors and Businessmen Association Provincial Chairman Fevzi Eriş, Şanlıurfa Bahri Erbil, Vice President of the Contractors Association, made presentations on the Construction Sector's Problems and Solutions in Şanlıurfa.

Following the presentations, the panel was moderated by ŞUTSO Assembly President Serhat Karadağ. Speaking at the opening of the panel, President Serhat Karadağ said, “We experienced a great earthquake disaster. This earthquake is the biggest earthquake we have experienced after the 17 August 1999 earthquake. Unfortunately, we experienced the pain of that day once again. Earthquake is a fact of the geography we live in, so we need to reduce the destructive effect of earthquakes. The important thing is to adapt to the reality of earthquakes and to fulfill the requirements of living with earthquake risk.

We are trying to contribute to the process by identifying our sectoral problems and offering solutions.

While the wounds of the last earthquake disaster we experienced were healed, the normalization process began. While our government, relevant ministries, public institutions and organizations are working to accelerate this process, we are trying to contribute to the process by identifying our sectoral problems and offering solutions.

In the meeting we held last week with our construction industry committee chairs and chamber representatives affiliated to TMMOB, we identified some problems. Again at the same meeting, we decided to organize a panel with wider participation, where we will get the opinions, problems and solution suggestions of all our sector stakeholders. All the results we will obtain in this panel will be reported and conveyed to the relevant interlocutors, especially our ministries.” said.

After Serhat Karadağ's speech, Şanlıurfa Chamber of Civil Engineers Provincial Representative Ömer Faruk Dilek, Provincial Representative of the Chamber of City Planners İbrahim Halil Taşçı, Union of Building Inspection Organizations Branch President İbrahim Halil Yılmaz, Provincial Representative of the Chamber of Geological Engineers A. Vahap Bayram, Survey and Cadastre Engineers. The panel was held with the Provincial Representative of the Chamber of Architects Mustafa Güzeller and the Head of Şanlıurfa Branch of the Chamber of Architects Deniz Demir as the panelists.

After the panel, the question and answer session was held. After the questions were answered, the program ended.
