The 59th Annual Libraries Week in Turkey Begins

The 59th edition of the Libraries Week, which is celebrated every year to raise awareness about libraries and the librarianship profession in Turkey, begins.

The start of the week, which will be organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the main theme of “Library Heals” this year, will be held in Ankara.

The week, which will be celebrated by libraries across Turkey with various activities, will begin on March 27 with the participation of researchers, academics, librarians, public institutions and organizations and non-governmental organizations.

“Library Buildings: Preparedness for Earthquake and Other Disasters” conference will be held at the opening of the 59th Library Week to be held at the National Library.

On the second day of the week, in the sessions titled "The Vital Role of Coordination in Disaster and Emergency Management" and "Those Who Leave A Mark: Mobile Libraries", library managers and staff who worked in the earthquake area will share their experiences.

Psychosocial Support to Earthquake Victims

Psychosocial support activities will be organized for earthquake survivors during the week when citizens will be hosted with various activities in libraries from traditional arts to conversations throughout Turkey.

Istanbul Rami Library, Ankara Adnan Ötüken Provincial Public Library, Kesikköprü Camp and National Library will meet with earthquake victims from the third day of the week.

Those who come to Ankara from the regions where the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake disaster took place will attend the talks and workshops to be held at the National Library on March 29.
