The contract was signed on March 15, 2023 for the "South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform" Guided Project, with the grant support of the South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA), which carries out its activities under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, General Directorate of Development Agencies and co-financed by Eti Maden and Enerjisa Üretim. .

With the "South Marmara Hydrogen Coast" Valley Project, a new and local contribution to the Hydrogen Economy of the Valley and the Region will be made after the 8 million EUR grant support, which was awarded within the scope of the Horizon European Framework Program.

Turkey's First Local Green Hydrogen Facility with the Largest Capacity to be Established at Bandırma Energy Base

Eti Maden Operations General Directorate of the project applicant; With the project, in which the project participants are Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş., Offshore Wind Energy Association, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and Sabancı University, Turkey's first domestic green hydrogen plant with the largest capacity was built by TÜBİTAK MAM and ASPİLSAN Energy to Bandırma Energy Base. will be established. After this pilot project, which is described as a starting step, it is aimed to reach the capacity to develop Turkey's first domestic electrolyzer in MW scale in a short time.

The Region Will Specialize in Offshore Renewable Power Plants and Hydrogen

Within the scope of the project, which will last for 24 months, 2 important feasibility studies will be revealed. With the feasibility study of the "South Marmara Green Industry Zone", which is planned to be added to the Bandırma-Biga line, an important step will be taken for the planned and clean production-oriented development of the industry. In the process of green transformation, South Marmara, which wants to be the education center of Turkey, was introduced to the "Green Sea" after the Renewable Youth Energy (Re-YOU Operation) implemented with the IPA fund and the Renewable Energy Training Centers established at Balıkesir University and Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. Industry R&D Test and Training Center” will also be added, enabling the Region to specialize in the field of offshore renewable power plants and hydrogen. The feasibility study of the Center will be completed under the coordination of the Offshore Wind Energy Association, Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and TÜBİTAK MAM.

Applications will set an example for the whole of Turkey and will trigger larger studies at the industrial scale

With the “South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform” project, which will be implemented with the highest co-financing rate among the guided projects funded by the Development Agencies, the applications at the Bandırma Energy Base, which is aimed to be the first renewable energy park in Turkey, set an example for the whole country, and these applications are at an industrial scale. It is expected to trigger larger studies. Another important step will have been taken on this path, which was set out with the aim of establishing Turkey's first hydrogen production and distribution center. In order to reach a net-zero position in terms of greenhouse gases in 2053, the most important initiative in the field of industry is aimed to be the "South Marmara Hydrogen Coast Platform".

The works that will begin to establish Turkey's first green industrial zone in the Southern Marmara from scratch and the creation of new industrial zones to obtain products with higher added value from the Boron mineral, which will become more important in the green transformation process, will further trigger the synergy in this area.
