The common point of entrepreneurs, FikrimİZ Unit, in cooperation with Robotel Turkey, produced a 'Robotel' for individuals who have suffered from hand deformation and cannot reach the prosthesis. In addition, robotic assembly training was given to 25 volunteers.
Being the first FabLab established by a metropolitan municipality in Turkey, Fabrikalab held an Izmir Volunteer Meeting in cooperation with Robotel Turkey in Izmir. In cooperation with Robotel Turkey, 25 volunteers came together at the meeting at the Historical Coal Gas Factory Youth Campus Idea Unit. At the meeting, the production process of the mechanical hands they prepared with 3D printers for the use of young people and children who could not reach the prosthesis due to hand deformation was shared with the volunteers. In addition, the volunteers learned the fine points of robotic production by learning the assembly of pre-produced parts with 3D printers at FabrikaLab İzmir within the body of FikrimİZ Unit.
Robotel production is done on a voluntary basis.
Stating that they have been producing Robotels at Fablab for a while, Head of Our Opinion Unit Melis Başkonuş Demirci said, “Robotel tries to minimize the distress experienced by children and young people due to limb loss. It does this on a voluntary basis. First, the person who will use the Robotel comes and the hand is measured or photographed, and our production process begins accordingly. It produces handcrafts from the wrist or elbow. While doing these, we develop hand figures by using the superheroes that children demand. Every year, new hand production continues until the child completes his/her development. When the child stops his/her development, the prosthesis is started,” he said.
We can produce all parts of Robotel as Fablab.
Demirci, who stated that the information about the amputees of many children in the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6 and affected 11 provinces, came to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and said, “At this point, both the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Robotel have a big job. We will sign a cooperation agreement with Robotel Turkey in the coming days so that earthquake victims who come to Izmir can access Robotel free of charge. We can manufacture all parts of Robotel as Fablab”.
