Head of Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy stated that they will apply the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), which will be attended by approximately 3,5 million candidates, in the provinces of Hatay, Malatya, Kahramanmaraş and Adıyaman.
ÖSYM President Ersoy made a statement about the exam practices to be held in the earthquake zone: “We decided not to conduct exams in the earthquake zone in order to carry out studies such as the buildings destroyed by the earthquake and the determination of how safe the survivors are. In this process, we have created the opportunity for our brothers in the earthquake zone to take the exam in any province of Turkey they want. Following the resumption of education by the Ministry of National Education in the region and the detailed examination we made as ÖSYM, we decided to start the exam again in 4 provinces in the earthquake zone. We aim for our brothers living in the region to take the exams without any security weakness.”
Expressing that if there is a demand above the capacity in the region, those who want can take the exam at any place in Turkey, as before, Ersoy stated that they will operate the process without causing life safety risk and weakness in the exams.
ÖSYM President Ersoy said: We increased the number of exam place preferences from 2 to 5. The person will be able to write the 5 cities he wants. Candidates will be able to take the exam at one of the centers of their choice.
On the other hand, it was stated that the candidates will be able to update their exam entrance preferences via ÖSYM's website with the opening of the system today.
