The 8th hearing of the trial regarding the train accident, which took place near Sarılar village of Çorlu district of Tekirdağ on 2018 July 7, in which 25 people, including 300 children, lost their lives and injured more than 14 people, is today at Çorlu 1st High Criminal Court. The 14th hearing of the case was postponed to 19 July.

The defendant Turgut Kurt, who was heard at the 8th hearing of the train disaster, which took place on July 2018, 7 in the Çorlu district of Tekirdağ, in which 25 people, 300 of whom were children, lost their lives and more than 14 people were injured, the defendant Turgut Kurt, who also served at that time, was the 1st TCDD. He blamed Mümin Karasu, who works as the Maintenance Manager at the Regional Directorate. Kurt said, “Mumin Karasu had the authority to reject the demands. We requested a new machine and our demands were denied. We were entrusting ourselves to God,” he said.

It was stated that the court committee replied to the memorandum regarding the protocol signed between TCDD and the Meteorology Directorate after the accident, that TCDD did not have a protocol between the two institutions.

Witnesses, Yasin Baba, Deputy Director of the 1st Region Maintenance Service Responsible for Infrastructure, and Tuncay Kahraman, Edirne 15th Region Railway Maintenance Manager, attended the hearing with the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS).

Witness Baba said that he worked as a geological engineer the year the accident occurred.

Father, stating that he did not go to the scene after the train accident and did not participate in the studies related to the accident, said, “I know that the accident was due to the derailment of the train because the culvert collapsed due to rain. We were not informed beforehand that there was a problem with the line where the accident occurred. I didn't even have a job in the accident area. On some documents, I only have my signature due to my duty.” used the phrases.

Witness Kahraman also stated that he was on annual leave on the day of the accident.

Noting that he went to the accident area upon the instruction of his authorized manager, Kahraman said, “I only took charge of opening the road in the accident area. I know that the accident occurred due to heavy rain. I did not do any touring duty there, as the region of the accident was not my responsibility. In the region, the entire superstructure was renewed in 2008-2011, but there was no renewal in the infrastructure. We do not have a practice of leaving a team on duty on weekends in the region we are responsible for. He was on duty at the 1st Regional Directorate.” he said.

Mısra Öz, who lost her son in the accident, took the floor and stated that the witnesses stated that the infrastructure was insufficient in the place where the accident took place, “Work had to be done for the infrastructure, it was a laborious job. That's what they say." said.

The court board sent a warrant to TCDD to notify with the supporting documents whether a traffic safety guard team was established at the 1st Regional Directorate at the time of the accident, if it was established, who it was, what their duties were, and to send approved touring charts at the Road Maintenance and Repair Directorates between January-July 2018. decided to write.

The hearing at Çorlu Public Education Center was postponed to 19 July.
