Chinese Companies to Release First Prototypes Connected to 6G in 2025

At the China Development Forum held annually on March 25 – 26 this year, China Unicom announced its calendar for the development and implementation of 6G technology.

Liu Liehong, General Manager of China Unicom, said that they will contribute to China's positioning ahead of other countries in the field of 6G.

Liu stated that he expects to complete the China Unicom research and development process by 2025, explaining that their aim is to launch the first applications related to 6G technology within the next two years. The ultimate goal is to commercialize it to the masses in the next decade, namely the 2030s.

Jin Zhuanglong, Minister of Industry and Information Technology within the framework of the forum, emphasized that China leads the way in terms of 6G research and development pace in the global context. Jin reminded that his country is ahead of other countries in terms of the prevalence of 5G networks and mobile applications.

Apart from China Unicom, the other two main operators of the country, China Mobile and China Telecom, continue their research and development activities of 6G technology. In recent years, companies have accelerated the rollout of 5G infrastructures across the country in order to focus on the future as soon as possible.
